Chapter 437 Accusations
The young man was Delmont Morton. He was Alex’s cousin and the current head of the Morton family.

Years ago, the Mortons were a powerful family in their own right mother happened. After that, the Morrisons were hell–bent on crushing the Mortons under their heel, driving the Morton family to face the constant threat of bankruptcy.
The Mortons managed to survive over the past few years, but their family had quickly fallen out of the circle of powerful families. With their diminished influence, even the most minor company treated their family insolently. That was why Delmont was furious whenever anyone brought up the subject of Alex and his mother.
“Delmont, how could you say that about your cousin?” Jeanne rebuked, à clear hint of displeasure in her voice.
“Our family wouldn’t be in the pathetic state today if it weren’t for him! He’s the reason why the Morrisons have targeted our family relentlessly over the past few years. He’s the one who made us live like dogs,” Delmont said furiously.
Faced with Delmont’s anger, Hugo remained silent while Jeanne heaved a heavy sigh. “Those were all tragedies for our family, Delmont. It’s been so many years since your aunt passed away. I don’t want anyone to bring up this matter ever again.”
“But why should we stop mentioning it, Mother? All the troubles were caused by this boy and his mother. His mother may be dead, but he’s still alive. He should pay for our loss over the years.”
A middle–aged man approached them, wearing an expression as cold as the dead of winter.
It was Gabriel Morton. He was Delmont’s father, which made him Alex’s eldest uncle. When he looked at Alex, his gaze was filled with nothing but disgust.
“Mother, I’ve heard that Susan Morrison was looking for him recently. Since he’s already here at Lumenopolis, I suggest that we hand him over to her and use this opportunity to ask her to stop hounding our family,” Gabriel said suddenly.
The expression on Alex’s face took an abrupt turn at that, his smile stiffened and turned frigid.
“Please think about it, Grandpa and Grandma. The Morrisons killed Uncle Michel because of Alex and his mother. He’s a jinx in our family. We have to give him up to Susan if we want our family to have any chance of rebuilding our fortune,” Delmont added quickly.
“That’s enough, Gabriel. Alex is your nephew! How can you say something as shameful as that!” Jeanne shouted, raising her voice in anger.
She used to have three children. Now, her second son and only daughter had been dead and gone before their time for years. She was the one who made their funeral arrangements, and it broke her heart having to do so.
And yet, she was not blinded by hatred. Alex was her grandson by blood. Her conscience would not allow her to send him to the sharks.
Hugo was angry as well, he rebuked his son and grandson harshly. “Your grandmother is right. If there’s any hatred here, it should all be aimed at the Morrisons. What kind of men would push his own family into the line of fire just to save his own life?”

“Father, if Alex is truly a family, he wouldn’t make our family go through so much shame and humiliation. In fact, I suspect that the bank forced us into a corner because either Susan or the Morrisons have instructed them to do that. If we don’t hand him over to them, we can’t placate Susan’s anger, and she’ll never forgive our family!” Gabriel said pleadingly.
“Grandpa, don’t forget that we still have to pay back the two hundred million loan to the bank in three days, or they’ll sell our company. Our family will go bankrupt!” Delmont reminded.
