Maggie’s misunderstanding ran deep, making her resistant to any attempts by Alex to explain. Alex felt perplexed, unsure of how to rectify the situation and dispel her misconceptions. 

Alex had a knack for finding solutions to work-related challenges, but when it came to matters of the heart, he found himself at a loss. 

When Alex returned to the villa, Kate and Emmalyn were sitting on the couch in the living. room, watching cartoons on the TV. 

The heartwarming sight made Alex relax a little. 

Having spotted Alex, Emmalyn clapped her chubby hands excitedly and started babbling nonstop in an adorable manner. 

Seeing that, Alex hurried over to Kate to take Emmalyn from her. 

He couldn’t stop himself from planting a kiss on the girl’s chubby and 

rosy cheek. 

“She woke up shortly after you left. Since you weren’t here, she started crying and wouldn’t stop, no matter how much I tried to comfort her. Look, her eyes are swollen from all the crying,” Kate explained to him, concern evident in her voice. 

Alex cast a glance at Emmalyn’s eyes and noticed they were red, and her lashes were still damp with tears. A surge of anguish gripped his heart as he realized that his daughter had indeed wept during his absence. 

“Emma, my 

dear. I had to step out for a while to take care of something, but now that I’m back, I won’t be going anywhere. Let’s spend some time playing together, all right?” Alex said. affectionately. 

“Thank you, Alex. My dad just informed me that a mysterious account transferred ten billion to our family. That was you, wasn’t it?” Kate expressed her gratitude with a sense of relief. 

Alex nodded. “I’m not giving the ten billion to your family. I’m loaning it to them, so they must repay it to me once they have overcome the crisis,” he stated firmly. 

Considering how hard-earned the ten billion was for Alex, he would feel hesitant about giving it to someone else without expecting it to be repaid. 

An awkward look crossed Kate’s face when she heard the word “loan.” She had assumed Alex would help her family without expecting anything in return, but it turned out he was merely loaning them the money. 

That doesn’t matter, though. As long as I can win his heart, as a married couple, we shouldn’t need to loan each other money, right? 

Having collected her thoughts, Kate leaned against Alex’s back and encircled his waist with her arms. In a flirtatious tone, she expressed, “I’m grateful that you’re willing to help us. Otherwise, my family would be in dire straits. I don’t know how to express my gratitude. By the way, you didn’t get to eat much when you came back earlier but had to leave to help my family. You must be famished, right? Let me go and prepare something for you to eat now.” 

“No need. Just reheat the dishes you prepared earlier,” Alex told her.
