Kate made it appear as though she had just realized that she had pushed Stanley aside. While she continued to comfort Emmalyn, she cast Alex an apologetic glance. 

“I’m sorry. When I heard Emma crying, I assumed she was being bullied. Without thinking. much, I ended up pushing you away. I’m sorry about that, Stanley,” she apologized readily. 

Despite that, she was upset to see Stanley getting to his feet, appearing to be fine.
