Chapter 632 Where Did They Go?
Out of the hotel, Lucia checked the time and pushed everything to the back of her mind. She hailed a taxi and told the driver her destination. Her priority was to go back, take care of everything, and file for divorce. She had made up her mind and realized the reason why she hadn't accepted Paul over the years. That was because he hadn't been seen as her future Some couples were not meant for each other. They might be together for some time but would eventually separate. She bit her lips and came back to reality. She held up her phone and texted Paul
"I'm going back to West Bridge. Let's meet and talk."
The dust had settled, and she couldn't be more determined. Before long, she arrived at the villa. At the gate, the maid saw her and came up in surprise.
"Madam, you're back!"
"Starting today, I'll no longer be the hostess of this house. Just call me Lucia." Lucia smiled at the maid who immediately turned ashen. Her lips parted, but she couldn't find any proper words to persuade Lucia.
Lucia looked back and asked, "Is Paul at home?"
"No, he isn't," the maid replied honestly.
Lucia nodded and went upstairs to her room. It distressed her to see the familiar surroundings. She collected herself and started to sort out her belongings Timothy's and Janet's clothes were also packed up. She arranged the suitcase till she felt a shiver down her spine. In reflex, she turned around and shivered at the sight of the man standing in the doorway. Paul was leaning against the door, his eyes fixed on her. The expression on her face was a bit unnatural.
She glanced at him, quickly looked away, and said, "Let's go through the divorce procedures."
Paul's face changed. He strode up and asked in a subdued voice, "Does it have to be this way?"
She furrowed her brows. Her voice was slow, but her tone was firm. "I've made up my mind. It's better for both of us if we get it done sooner."
She then firmly looked him in the eye. Her expression pricked his heart. His brows were knitted together, and his face clouded over. One second, two seconds, three seconds... Time slowly passed. The air in the room seemed to be frozen, and the silence was stifling.
Paul suddenly opened his mouth, his eyes fixed on her. "Is it because of August?"
Lucia frowned and denied it, "It has nothing to do with him."
"At such a point, you don't have to lie to me. I need to hear the truth."
Paul took a deep breath to suppress his emotions. Lucia felt cold and looked at the man who seemed to be so unfamiliar. She trembled in anger.
"I am telling the truth. I want to divorce you because you lied to me and did all kinds of shady things to attain your goals. Don't you get it?"
His face was sullen and cold. After a while, he turned back to her and said, "Someone saw you went to the hotel with August yesterday."
Her heart lurched, and she immediately understood what he meant. He didn't believe her and thought that she was going to divorce him because of August. He didn't really know
what happened yesterday. If August hadn't helped her, her children and she would have been homeless. Paul, however, thought it was a dirty deal.
She gritted her teeth, felt a tingling sensation in her eyes, and sneered, "Paul, the children were with me yesterday! Am I that kind of person to you?"
Was she that kind of woman who couldn't wait to sleep with another man? Paul frowned. The sight of her red eyes made him distressed.
"It's not what I mean..."
Lucia raised her hand and cut him short, "I don't feel like explaining anything. Let's get a divorce. I'll wait for you at the door. Bring the marriage license and the residence booklet." With that, she quickly went outside with the suitcase in tow. Paul was left there all alone. A hint of chagrin crept onto his face. He hadn't expected things to turn out this way. In his
frustration, he punched the wall. He had planned to make her change her mind. Now it was all over.
Half an hour later, they headed to the Civil Affairs Bureau. Neither of them talked along the way. In the office, the clerk asked about the division of their properties. Lucia decided to
leave home with nothing. This family was established by Paul. When they went on their separate ways, she didn't want a penny from him. After going through the procedures, she
was much more relaxed. Paul and she came out one after another.
Before she could say goodbye, he said, "Where are you going? I can give you a ride."
