Chapter 682 Who Sent You Here?

August answered her truthfully in a low voice, "Yes."
Upon hearing this, anger gradually appeared in Lucia's eyes.
She suddenly grabbed his sleeve and asked sternly, "Since you knew that this would happen, you should've come up with other ways of
solving it instead of hurting my children. Do you know what will happen if their identities are exposed?"
"Lucia, calm down. Timothy and Janet are also my children." August held her shoulders tightly.
If he had a better solution, he wouldn't have taken this risk and put his children in this situation.
"Calm down? How do you expect me to calm down?!"
She kept struggling and rained punches on his shoulders as tears filled her eyes. "Do you know how many enemies you have outside? Do
you have any idea how many people will lay their hands on our children? Have you ever thought about this?"
"Lucia, today's press conference is related to our children's future. This was my only choice," August explained in a low voice.
Lucia wiped away her tears and smiled bitterly.
Of course, she understood the gravity of the issue clearly. However, once her children's identities were exposed, it would pose more
danger to them.
As a mother, she found it ridiculous that she could not protect her children!
While the two of them were talking, Burton approached them with the suspect who had raised his voice earlier. Several bodyguards were
trying to hold onto a man who was constantly struggling. The reporter had caused a stir at the press conference earlier.
"He's..." She frowned deeply, and it seemed like she had thought of something
She protected the children well, so how did the reporter find out about them with such ease? Moreover, his decision to expose them at the
press conference was too much of a coincidence.
Thinking of this, she pointed at the reporter and asked coldly, "Who sent you here?"
"It's fine if Ms. Mitchell has a scheming heart, but not everyone is as deceitful as you are. I am a reporter, and I have the right to let the
public know the truth. If you are honest and upright, you should have nothing to fear."
The reporter looked determined to tear her down. His intonation was full of ridicule, and he even glanced at her provocatively.
Lucia had calmed down by then and noticed that the reporter's behavior was very suspicious.
Under normal circumstances, he would be at a disadvantage right now. He should be very afraid, but he continued to provoke her calmly
despite the dire situation he was in. This meant that he probably had strong support behind him.
Thinking of this, she quickly yanked off the ID card on his chest and threw it to Burton. "Call the news agency and confirm his position
there."
Burton caught the card and called the news agency right away. A trace of panic flashed across the reporter's face, but he quickly
recovered. He threatened loudly, "Lucia Mitchell, I will publish an article tomorrow and show everyone your true colors."
"I'm afraid you won't have a chance to do so," she replied coldly while taking the card from Burton.
The ID card in her hand was customized for a specific news agency, and it was kept in a soft leather cover. From a distance, it looked like
there was nothing wrong with it.
However, the ID card was removed from the leather cover and the male reporter's photo was torn off, revealing a photo of a middle-aged
woman.
"I called the news agency and verified the ID card, Madam. This female employee is on maternal leave, and this man doesn't work for the
news agency."
"Now, can you finally tell me who the mastermind is?" Lucia looked up at the man.
The man suddenly became extremely irritable when his identity was exposed. He struggled to get closer to her and shouted, "I just want everyone to know that you are a bitch! I have always disliked you. If you're this capable, why don't you send me to the police station?!" When Lucia heard this, a sudden cold and dark light flashed across her eyes. She raised her hand and hurled the ID card at the man's
face.
The sharp side of the card cut the man's forehead, and blood gradually trickled down his forehead.
Then, she approached the man slowly and grasped his chin tightly with her slender fingers. No one had ever seen her behaving in such a
ruthless manner before. "My two children are my bottom line. Do you think I'd let you go just like that?"
When the man saw her like this, his savage expression gradually stiffened. He suddenly regretted provoking this seemingly harmless
woman.
"Burton, I will leave this person to you. You must find out the mastermind for me!" Her voice was abnormally cold.
After the press conference ended, the car sped off and drove back to the front porch of the the Adams villa. However, Lucia refused to get
out of the car. Her delicate hands could not stop trembling, and her face was pale as she leaned against the car seat.
August tilted his head to look at her and said jokingly, "Weren't you very aggressive just now? Are you feeling afraid now?" She reluctantly raised her heavy eyelids and sighed deeply. "I'd be lying if I say that I'm not afraid. When the kids find out about this,
they will be traumatized. Janet is a simple kid, and she can be persuaded easily. As for Timothy..."
"The successor of the Adams family should not be affected by these small things," August responded in a low voice.
Before he could finish his sentence, Janet was already knocking on the car door. "Mommy, a woman just delivered a beautiful photo
frame to us. Come and look at it."
Only then did Lucia pull herself together and got out of the car with August. She held Janet in her arms and walked into the living room. There was a photo frame that was half her height leaning against the wall of the living room. Inside the frame was their wedding photo
taken a few days ago at Evergreen Park.
