Chapter 814 Catching Them in Bed
By the time Lucia came downstairs, the teacher had prepared a variety of ties and a whiteboard and was looking at her helplessly.
After the class, Lucia was going to meet Sophie at the Davenport's as usual, but before she could leave the house, she heard Turner's anxious voice from the foyer. Sir, you can't go in there."
The Adams villa had been attacked several times and the bodyguards at the gate had been either killed or injured. In case of a recurrence, Lucia had removed the bodyguards from the gate after returning from the hill. 'Is someone trying to break in?" She strode to the foyer and saw Turner blocking Edmund. "What are you doing here? This is the Adams villa!" she questioned Edmund warily.
Edmund’s eyes lit up when he saw her. He didn't mean to hurt Turner but took out his phone and said seriously, Lucia, I need a word."
Lucia was still wary, but Edmund looked so serious, so she motioned for Turner to take him into the living room. She sat gracefully on the couch to keep her distance and asked coldly, Mr. Shea, what is so important that you broke into the Adams villa?"
Edmund looked around discreetly to make sure the maids were uninterested in their conversation before unlocking his phone and handing it to her. "I got this text this morning. I've had the number and location deciphered. Mr. Adams is probably walking into a trap.'
Lucia's heart did a complete somersault.
It was a screenshot of a WhatsApp chat window. One of the parties was indeed August because the person spoke exactly as he did. There was a postscript at the bottom of the text. "Lucia is yours after tonight."
Lucia tried to remain calm and stared at Edmund suspiciously. "Thank you for bringing me the new, but August doesn't walk into traps easily, and...“ She paused and narrowed her eyes slightly. "Why should I believe you?"
"Am I that bad in your heart?" Edmund gave a wry smile.
Lucia didn't completely disbelieve the text. She just didn't want to believe Edmund. In fact, she was all twisted up inside.
Edmund said in an injured voice, "I admit I like you, but I've never used despicable means to compete with August for you. I can compete with him. I'll never hurt him or threaten him with you.“
"It depends. Thank you for telling me this. Please go back," Lucia replied. She immediately texted Burton to check August's schedule, but she was told that no one knew where August was.
Edmund sat on the couch with a frown. He didn't force Lucia to believe him but reminded her softly, "I know my confession of love made a big impact on you, but this time it's different. I'll wait outside and help you if you need me when you find out the truth."
