At the back of the gazebo, Cameron, dragged here forcefully by Bailey, stopped dead in his tracks when he heard those words.
He couldn't believe his eyes as he looked at “Blaze” inside the gazebo with a pained look in his eyes.
How was this possible? How could Blaze force another man to marry her? She used to pursue me relentlessly, claiming that she wouldn't marry anyone else in this lifetime. Now...
Cameron couldn't bear this change in her and was about to stride into the gazebo to confront her.
Bailey quickly reached out and stopped him, lowering her voice to say, “Wait a moment. If she's truly Blaze, she wouldn't easily let another man marry her. Cameron, don't you find this woman peculiar? She might have gone through some hardships, but it doesn't make sense for her to change completely. So, stay calm and see if she'll do anything unusual.”
Cameron's temples throbbed as he forcefully suppressed his impulse and leaned against a fake rock.
Inside the gazebo, Artemis, after hearing Eunice's request for him to marry her, started to sneer.
How audacious of her. Does she have no shame at all? Does she not realize her own shortcomings? She should know better than anyone else what had happened that night but is still shameless enough to order me to marry her. I have encountered many women before, but she is the most bizarre and laughable I've ever met.
“We both know very well what happened that night, so stop trying to disgust me. It's just the two of us here. You don't need to put on an act anymore as there's no need for it. I invited you here today because I genuinely want to resolve this matter with you. If you continue to be stubborn, I'll have to resort to forceful measures to make you reveal the truth of that night. Ms. Blaze, you claimed to deeply love Mr. Yablon, but you ran over here and tried to seduce me eagerly. Is this your idea of unwavering devotion?”
Eunice clenched her fist, a hint of resentment flashing in her eyes.
She wanted to win Artemis' heart, especially after finding out about his conflict with Bailey.
Alas, this man was too astute. He was absolutely convinced that nothing had happened between them.
If she forcefully pinned the blame on him, it would only backfire, making him utterly disgusted with her.
Moreover, if this matter escalated and Cameron suspected that she had other intentions, it might arouse suspicion and ultimately lead to the loss of her protector.
No, I can't afford to lose Cameron's protection. Until I completely win over Artemis, I still need Cameron's support.
After weighing the pros and cons, she blinked, squeezing out two tears from her eyes.
Then, she looked pitifully at Artemis, choking up as she said, “T-That night, I was sleepwalking, and I mistook you for Cameron. Afterward, I was worried that Cameron would misunderstand me as a frivolous woman, so I had no choice but to resort to this. You're right. That night, nothing happened between us. I was just too afraid that Cameron would misunderstand me, so I dragged you into this.”
Artemis smirked coldly. He was about to say something when suddenly, Cameron leaped from behind the gazebo.
Upon seeing him, Eunice secretly cursed her luck.
“C-Cameron...”
Without waiting for her to finish, Cameron grabbed her wrist, glaring at her menacingly. “You keep saying that Artemis mistreated you, but nothing actually happened. Sleepwalking? Mistaking him for me? Ha, these excuses are lame. I won't believe them at all. Tell me, who are you really? And where is Blaze? You'd better confess, or I'll make you wish you were dead.”
