Eunice wanted to struggle and escape, but her hands and legs were bound tightly. No matter how much strength she used, she still couldn't break free.
“Why should you be the one to be sacrificed?” Catherine scoffed. “Because you're the one who planted this parasitic fragrance. Now, you must bear the consequences of your actions. My daughter is still so young, yet she has suffered from the torment of the parasitic worm for years. If I don't hold you accountable, how could I justify the pain Luna has endured?”
Eunice lost her cool completely, cursing loudly, “It was you I wanted to harm back then, not this little brat! It was your own shamelessness in doing such a scandalous thing that led to the parasite king transitioning to that little brat through the mother. This tragedy is your doing. If you hadn't given birth to her, none of this would have happened. How dare shove the blame on me, Catherine?”
Catherine was so infuriated that she burst out laughing.
She was the one who planted the parasitic fragrance, yet she's lecturing me at the end of the day. How could there be such a shameless woman in this world?
Still seething, Eunice tore into Luna, who was on the bed. “As expected of a little brat born of a b*tch! You're as stubborn as a mule. Despite all the torment, you just won't die—”
Two crisp slaps rang out.
Bailey strode over and swung her hand back and forth, fiercely slapping her several times on both sides of her face.
Before Eunice could gather her wits about her, she swiftly grabbed a handful of cotton swabs from the tray and forcefully stuffed them into the woman's mouth.
“Mmph!”
How despicable of you, Bailey!
Eunice wanted nothing more than to flay her alive, sever all her nerves, and reduce her ashes.
Meanwhile, Bailey was wholly indifferent to her hatred. She walked over to the bed, leaned down, and made a cut on the back of Luna's hand.
“Simon, untie that woman and bring her over. Align her wound with Luna's to transfer the parasite king into her body.”
Simon signaled the two bodyguards to untie Eunice's hands before forcefully dragging her toward the bed.
Eunice knew how formidable the parasite king was. She didn't want to become a breeding ground for its offspring and end up thoroughly devoured, leaving nothing but a skeleton behind.
“Mmph!”
No matter how much effort she expended, she couldn't utter a single word, let alone break free from the grip of the two bodyguards.
She could only watch helplessly as her wound was aligned with Luna's, an all-encompassing fear and despair overwhelming her.
She was truly terrified.
If possible, she would rather be torn apart than have the parasite king enter her body, a fate worse than death.
Despite having medicine painstakingly prepared by Catherine to suppress the parasite king, Luna was still tormented to the brink of death.
If the parasite king were to enter her body without anything to suppress it, her internal organs would be riddled with holes within three days.
She didn't want to experience such torment. Verily, she dreaded it.
Blood trickled down the backs of both their hands, pooling on the ground below. Catherine, Bailey, and the others stared intently where the two wounds touched.
A minute passed, yet there were no signs of the parasite king wriggling on Luna's wrist.
In other words, it was still hiding in her, unwilling to come out.
Eunice was the enhancer and awakened the parasite king with her blood. Logically speaking, the parasite king should like her body more.
However, that didn't seem to be the case then.
“Could we have made a wrong judgment?” Catherine murmured with a frown.
Upon hearing that, Bailey also felt somewhat uncertain.
She had never reared any parasites before, so she had no idea about their habits.
A cool voice rang out from outside. On the heels of that, Cameron walked in with steady steps.
The sinister smile on Eunice's face froze, and she blurted, “Cam, I—”
With a casual flick of his hand, Cameron threw the bead he was toying with into her mouth, successfully silencing her nauseating words before they could escape her lips.
“Stop disgusting me in my presence.”
Eunice went silent.
When Bailey saw him striding in confidently, she surmised that he might have thought of a solution and quickly asked, “Have you discovered something new?”
Quirking a brow, Cameron took out a small booklet from his pocket.
It was the Encyclopedia of Poison, in which were recorded the concocting methods of various rare poisons around the world.
Bailey postulated that he must have found some leads in the Encyclopedia of Poison. Gritting her teeth, she hissed, “If you've made a breakthrough, just say it. Don't beat around the bush.”
Cameron glared at her, then said lightly, “After careful examination, I discovered a poison in there that was specifically designed to counteract parasitic worms. Ordinary parasitic worms can't survive when exposed to such poison. As for the parasite king, I'm not sure, but the poison should be able to force it out of Luna's body.”
Bailey and Catherine exchanged a glance, both glimpsing a glimmer of hope in each other's eyes.
They were at their wits' end then anyway, so they might as well consider Cameron's suggestion.
Bailey was the first to speak.
“Since you dare to tell us about it, there must be some basis for it. I suspect this parasite king has been in Luna's body for too long, thus reluctant to leave. If you can really concoct a poison forcing it to relocate, then we can use Eunice as a blood bait. It should work.”
Eunice's pupils constricted sharply.
Didn't they say this method doesn't work? Why are they targeting me again? I won't allow them to push me around. I'll kill myself now!
