Suddenly There Are Three (Bailey and Artemis) novel Chapter 1020

Chapter 1020 Artemis Going Mad

His grandchildren were exceptionally intelligent.

From a young age, under his guidance, the two children may not have been ready to lay down their lives for each other, but they were certainly there to support and look out for each other.

He initially thought the two cousins could maintain a respectful and friendly relationship, living in peace and harmony.

Yet, all because of a woman, they found themselves at odds, face to face, as if they had encountered mortal enemies.

He was still alive then, so he could barely manage to keep them in check.

Once he was gone, he was certain they would turn against each other over a woman.

Artemis looked at the elderly man in front of him, his hair white as snow and his face full of worry, and gently began to smile.

Glen glared at him and asked, “What are you laughing at?”

Artemis nodded and said, “You've lived a long life and personally taught both Edmund and me, Granddad. I never thought that, in the end, you would be the one who couldn't see it. I know what you're worried about. You're simply afraid that a hundred years from now, Edmund and I will both be devastated over a woman. Actually, there's no need for you to worry. Edmund is very open-minded. He has let go of the past and won't interfere anymore.”

Glen snorted coldly, his eyes glaring as he stroked his beard. “Since you already knew he had let go, why did you rush to the Chivers residence in such a hurry? Do you not trust me and your uncle? Are you worried that we might do something inappropriate for Edmund because of Bay?”

If Artemis were to say yes, Glen would slap him to death.

Artemis understood Glen all too well, so naturally, he wouldn't foolishly agree.

He simply smiled and said, “I was brought up by you, Granddad. Your character is not for me to question, so don't belittle yourself.”

In response, Glen asked fiercely, “Then why did you rush over here? Don't tell me it's just to see me.”

Artemis chuckled, retorting, “Shouldn't I come to see you?”

Glen scoffed. “As soon as you entered the Chivers residence, you headed straight for the back garden. I bet you knew that Bay and Edmund were enjoying coffee in the gazebo, and you couldn't resist the urge to stir up trouble.”

Artemis rubbed his brow, his face calm and his heart scoffed as he said, “The kids are clamoring for their mom. I can't soothe them, so I'm in a hurry to bring her back to calm them down.”

What an excuse! Glen was so amused that he burst into laughter. He picked up a magazine from the table and playfully tossed it at him.

“Get lost. Every time I lay eyes on you, it shaves three years off my life,” Glen said.

Artemis skillfully dodged, smiling lightly as he said, “Granddad, you're getting on in years. Please don't get angry. Too much anger is bad for your liver and can harm your health. Although your granddaughter-in-law is a skilled doctor, you're the one who suffers in the end if you fall ill. It's not worth it.”

Glen picked up another magazine and threw it at him. “Get lost. Don't be an eyesore in front of me.”

Inside the gazebo, upon hearing from the housekeeper that Artemis had hurriedly arrived, Edmund initially planned to head to the back garden. However, after receiving the news that Glen had called Artemis to the study, Edmund simply smiled.

Edmund turned his head to look at Bailey, who was leisurely sipping coffee across from him, and he said, “Bay, I remember you used to hate it when people bossed you around.” Doesn't it bother you, annoy you, or frustrate you that he's so domineering, controlling your freedom like this?”

Sipping lightly on her coffee, Bailey fell silent for a moment before saying, “If it's someone you truly cherish, no amount of fussing would ever be bothersome.”
