Callum glanced at Scarlett out of the corner of his eye.
Indeed, the child she was carrying was not fathered by Justin.
If this information were to be revealed, it would damage the reputation of the Fletcher family.
Of course, he wasn't worried about facing retaliation from the Fletcher family after making this verification. He simply felt sorry for Scarlett.
She is a refined lady from high society, accustomed to a life of luxury and privilege. How would she be able to survive in this world if her reputation were to be tarnished?
As the voices urging him grew louder, Callum decided to put an end to the suspense. In a calm tone, he said, "The test results show that the baby in Ms. Fletcher's womb is not Mr. Xuereb's child."
No sooner had these words been spoken than they caused a stir, stirring up a surge of emotions.
What did this outcome signify?
The Fletcher family's daughter had acted without dignity, violating social norms. By conceiving a child of unknown paternity, she shamelessly attached herself to the Xuereb family. Her actions were infuriating.
Scarlett's eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at Callum, her voice trembling as she asked, "Did you... Did you make a mistake? The child I'm carrying is indeed from the Xuereb family. Otherwise, Justin wouldn't have married me. We even had a wedding ceremony."
Callum showed her the test report in his hand and said, "It's all there in black and white, Ms. Fletcher. There's no way you can clear your name."
His words instantly provoked Scarlett, who was already on the verge of collapse.
She seemed to have lost her mind, pointing at him and cursing vehemently, "You unscrupulous scoundrel, how dare you accept bribes and help the Xuereb family frame me! Just now, in the infirmary, you said you would handle this fairly. But in the blink of an eye, you've changed your tune. Can you really justify the official's cap you're wearing?"
After she finished speaking, she turned her gaze back to Justin and continued her tirade. "You're a worthless man, a complete coward. How can you call yourself a man if you can't even admit your own mistakes? I, Scarlett, must have been blind to have fallen for you. I'm telling you, I won't accept this kind of evidence, let alone plead guilty."
Justin's face remained expressionless, displaying remarkable indifference.
All of this was part of his plan.
"Ms. Fletcher, you jest. You are Lady Scarlett, with the powerful Fletcher family backing you. Who in the world would dare to cross you? If you're unsatisfied with this outcome and believe I'm deceiving you, feel free to send high-ranking officials from the province or Dellmoor to investigate."
Scarlett's body trembled.
Justin always handled matters carefully, never giving others an opportunity to take advantage.
Now that he was so certain, it proved that he was fully confident.
Could it be that the child in my womb is not his?
No, no, no, the life growing inside me is my only hope. I can't afford to lose this last bargaining chip.
Just as she was about to continue arguing her case, Justin suddenly stepped forward, leaning in to whisper in her ear, "I have evidence of you causing a major car accident. Scarlett, if you don't want to spend your entire life in prison, accept your fate. Otherwise, your end will be even more miserable than being expelled from the Xuereb family."
A deep fear flashed in Scarlett's eyes.
She didn't want to go to jail.
However, she knew that Justin wasn't trying to scare her. Bailey must have provided him with compelling evidence.
The first time, Bailey, due to her relationship with her brother, did not send her to prison.
If she were to go through it all again now, she simply couldn't guarantee what her fate would be.
"Why... Why are you treating me this way? I love you so much. I've given up everything for you. Why can't you just pause and look at me?"
