Dwayne was stumped, and his expression darkened. I can't compete against Lionel's family background. I can't save Victor. If I ignore everything and bring Victoria away, that'll definitely anger Lionel. By then, Victor will get convicted. I can't afford to bear the consequences.
When Victoria saw Dwayne's expression getting less determined, she couldn't help smiling bitterly. “Dwayne, listen to me, okay? Leave. No one can help me because I'm doing this willingly. I need to do this so that I can get rid of him and start a new life.”
With tears in his eyes, Dwayne looked away. What on earth is Lionel thinking? She has an innocent and kind woman loving him. How could he let these middle-aged men take advantage of her? Is he doing this to a woman he once loved dearly just because of what happened seven years ago? If that's the case, Lionel is not capable of love, and he's not worthy of Victoria's love. If he had loved her, he would forgive her, regardless of how severe the mistake was.
Outside the private room, Lionel was leaning against the wall with his head hung low. No one knew what was on his mind, but he was exuding a chilly aura.
In fact, he had arrived shortly after Dwayne.
Prior to that, he kept staring at his watch when he was in the car, and he felt terrible.
That was when he realized that he couldn't bear to let Victoria be taken advantage of.
“Call them and get them to leave Aurora Club at once. After this, I'll make it up to them. Whatever happened here tonight stays here. If they dare to leak it out, they'll bear the consequences,” Lionel said to his subordinate.
“Yes, Mr. Gezmond.”
Lionel then slowly straightened his body and glanced at the inside of the private room from the corners of his eyes before walking toward the elevator.
In the room, one of the men received a phone call and kept nodding profusely. “Okay. Sure. We'll leave at once. I understand. Don't worry. We'll keep our mouths shut.”
With that, he hung up the phone and shared a glance with the man next to him before bringing the other man toward the exit.
Seeing that, Victoria grew anxious.
She then quickly got off the couch and wanted to stop the men from leaving. Dwayne stopped her from doing that.
“Let me go, Dwayne. Let me go! After tonight, Victor and the Saunders family will be free. I'll never have to deal with Lionel again. That's the best outcome for me, and that's my only way out. Please let go of me, okay?” Victoria pleaded.
Dwayne pursed his lips because he couldn't bear to hear her cry for another second. In the end, he struck her on the back of the neck and knocked her out.
While looking at her teary face, Dwayne uttered gently, “I'm sorry, but I can't bear to see you being taken advantage of. Although you don't love yourself, you have others who care about you.”
Meanwhile, in the Gezmond residence, Wendy was on the phone with someone while leaning against the floor-to-ceiling windows. “How did it go? Did you manage to find Mr. Gezmond?”
The person on the other end of the phone answered respectfully, “Mrs. Gezmond, Mr. Gezmond had gone to Aurora Club, and he met Ms. Victoria in the underground parking lot. I don't know what was said between them. As for what happened after that, it seems like someone is deliberately trying to cover it up, so I couldn't find that out either.”
Ms. Victoria? Wendy gripped the phone so tightly that her knuckles turned white.
Wendy knew about the history between Lionel and Victoria.
Furthermore, she knew why Lionel had refused to touch her and be close to her throughout the years.
