In the CEO's office at Fashionista, Lionel sat on the revolving chair and shot a cold stare at the middle-aged man reporting to him.
He demanded in an icy tone, “What do you mean by 'Saunders Group has mobilized all of their assets and is now controlling the stock market?’”
The middle-aged man sighed and gritted his teeth. “Ms. Saunders is going against the rules and controlling the market. She managed to stabilize Saunders Group's stocks. I'm guessing that she plans to sell the stocks she has in one go and get a huge sum of money. After that, I don't know whether she's planning to flee or self-destruct.”
Crack!
Lionel crushed the wine glass in his hand.
He knew Victoria very well. She would never flee after getting the money, so the only reason why she did that was to send herself to jail.
What a cruel woman.
Precisely because he had sent her brother to jail using the same method, she wanted to send herself to jail in a similar manner.
She was not inflicting pain on herself but torturing him instead and using this method to take revenge on him.
At that moment, Lionel's eyes turned bloodshot and were filled with raging emotions.
Victoria! The person who's truly cruel isn't me, but you. Well done! You are merciless enough. How vicious of you!
If that's the case, I won't stand on ceremony either. If you want to go to jail, just stay there for the rest of your life.
“Ignore her and continue with the acquisition. Within a week, I want Saunders Group to become one of LG's assets.”
“Got it.”
After leaving the café, Bailey drove to Saunders Group instead of returning to the Luther residence.
She barged into the office on the highest floor and strode past the desk.
Dragging Victoria up from the chair, she demanded furiously, “You! Explain to me what on earth is going on!”
With that, she slammed her phone on the table.
Not putting up any struggle at all, Victoria looked over. After shooting the screen a casual glance, she burst out laughing and asked, “You know about it already?”
“Are you admitting to it?” Bailey glared at her with bloodshot eyes and bellowed, “Vicky! Have your brains been eaten by zombies? How can you destroy your life and send yourself to jail just for a man's sake? If you're so selfless, why don't you just go and die instead?”
As she spoke, tears streamed down her cheeks.
After knowing that her eldest son was a stillborn, Bailey, a strong and determined woman, had never shed a single tear again regardless of the hardships she had experienced.
Yet, she was now forced to tears because of her best friend.
Victoria flung Bailey's hand away and hugged her. Smiling, she reassured, “Shh! Don't cry. This was fated to happen a long time ago, just that it arrived seven years late. I've already mentally prepared myself. Since you're so strong, I'm sure that you can accept it calmly.”
“Must you really do this?” Bailey started bawling. While crying, she took out a plane ticket from her pocket and stuffed it into Victoria's hand. “Leave! Leave right now! Go as far as you can and never come back! I'd rather not see you for the rest of my life than watch you send yourself to jail.”
Victoria rested her head on Bailey's shoulders and listened to her sobs. However, a peaceful smile formed on Victoria's lips as if she had attained liberation. “Bay, my life is worse than death now. Perhaps, I might have peace of mind in jail. That's my only haven now.”
Bailey shoved her away forcefully and asked through gritted teeth, “So you insist on going?”
