“Is it a hard decision to make?” Bailey queried.
However, Zeke shook his head. “It seems like it's the only choice we have. All right. I'll try to contact Shirley and ask her to come to Hallsbay.”
Bailey then stood up from her chair and took her sling bag from the table. “I have something else to do, so I'll excuse myself first. I'll have to trouble you to keep a closer eye on Dyke Pharmaceutical so that the first batch of medication can be made available to the public as quickly as possible.”
“Okay.”
After returning to the medical base, the first thing she saw from afar was the siblings, Zayron and Susan, playing happily with Edmund.
Their calls of “Daddy Eddy” echoed in the spacious field and warmed the hearts of the onlookers.
No one could be a better father to the two children than Edmund.
Bailey felt that there was no harm in trying to accept him if he was the father the siblings chose to have.
But what is that aching and frustrating feeling in my heart?
“What are you thinking about?”
While she was lost in her thoughts, Edmund had reached her side.
Bailey gave him a faint smile. “Nothing. I just feel at peace watching you play with your kids.”
Edmund took her hand and led her to the artificial lake.
As Susan watched the two head there, she clapped fervently and cried out, “Daddy Eddy finally won over Bailey's heart. Zayron, did you hear that? Bailey said 'you and your kids.' That means she accepts Daddy Eddy! She accepts him as family!”
However, Zayron narrowed his eyes a little and shot a glance at the girl as a mocking look flashed past his face.
That's because you don't know who your real dad is. If it was that dense guy Simon, Daddy Eddy might still stand a chance. But it's that sly old fox, Artemis. Even if there are ten Daddy Eddys around, they're still no match for Artemis. Just give up on that!
Meanwhile, Bailey was leaning against the railing by the artificial lake and smiling. “Let's just get straight to the point instead of beating around the bush. There aren't any secrets between us, Edmund.”
Edmund chuckled. He then asked, “Bay, when are you planning to leave Hallsbay? Cadence's now dead, and no one's going to lay a finger on the medication anymore. Doesn't that mean we can leave without regrets?”
Bailey sighed as she slowly dropped the smile on her face. In a tired tone, she said, “I'm afraid I won't be able to leave for the next two weeks. I'm representing Chanaea in the International Programming Competition, so I have to stay here until the competition ends.”
Edmund's interest was piqued when he heard her mention that. “You've never shown off your abilities, so why did you join the International Programming Competition this time?”
A bitter smile crept upon Bailey's lips before she briefly told him about how she had hacked into the research institute to steal Scarlett's documents.
“That's what happened. It would be easier to deal with if I had crossed someone ordinary, but the other person is from the Fletcher family. Now that the cyberspace administration department has taken over the investigation, it's only a matter of time before they realize my involvement. That's why I'm in a rush to get an achievement so that they can't lay a finger on me.”
Edmund lifted a brow and said, “It seems like you have quite an impressive identity in this field. Mind revealing something to me?”
Bailey's eyes flicked toward him before she walked over to the gazebo. “I'm the top hacker, Spook.”
A look of surprise flashed past Edmund's eyes.
It was not because he learned that she was the best hacker internationally but because he remembered that Spook had hacked into Artemis' account half a year ago, causing him to lose three billion. For that, Artemis had chased after Spook across the globe for half a year.
So Spook is Bay? She's unbelievable to have the guts to mess with Artemis.
