D*mn it. How could I forget about that dangerous man? He might not do anything to Shannon if she falls into his hand, but she might drive herself to insanity instead.

Bailey knew that Micah's name was a nightmare Shannon could not escape. After all, he had something to do with both her crippled arm and her perished child.

“Prepare a private jet for me. I'm going to use it after one hour.”

Bailey then hung up and gave Veikko a call.

“Veikko, listen. Micah may have found your whereabouts. I'm going to head to Springwyn right away. Do not act recklessly, and make sure Shannon doesn't notice anything wrong. Do you understand?”

After putting down her phone, Bailey got up from the bed in a hurry and dressed without much thought. Then she got her phone and car keys and headed out.

She tried to call Artemis, but his phone had been turned off.

It read: Micah is your sworn brother, so he won't do anything to me. Don't follow me here as I don't want to see you stuck in a dilemma. Stay put and deal with the rumor that's all over Hallsbay, then wait for me to come home.

Artemis couldn't help but snort after he finished reading the text.

She just left like that, huh? Will it hurt to wait for me for an hour or two?

Zoey heaved a sigh of relief at that.

I thought he found out that I was the one who spread the rumor. I was so careful about it, so there's no way I would get caught!

“I-I heard about the rumor, so I thought of visiting you. Artemis, are you and Bailey—”

“We broke up,” uttered Artemis before striding toward his desk.
