A loud slap echoed across the room.

Olivia had slammed her palm on the desk.

“Impossible. I'll tell you this now, Justin. I will never accept that b*stard as a member of the Xuereb family, much less that b*tch as my daughter-in-law.”

Justin merely replied, “You can leave now.”

Sliding her gaze to the corner of her eyes, she saw Zephyr standing by the door. He was like the spark that sent Olivia's rage over the edge.

She strode over to the child and grabbed his neck. Killing intent flared in her eyes as she choked the boy.

My family still needs to secure themselves in the political world with the Fletcher family's help. I won't allow Veronique and her child to destroy the engagement between the Xuereb family and the Fletcher family.

Veronique was coming up the stairs when she saw Olivia choking Zephyr.

A wave of terror engulfed her, and she rushed toward them without a second thought.

“Let go! Zephyr can't take any more abuse! Let go of him!”

Olivia's rage flared. She shoved Veronique when she released her grip on Zephyr's neck.

Veronique had just returned from the press conference, so she was still in high heels. With a shove from Olivia, she lost her balance and toppled backward.

Justin raced toward her and hurriedly grabbed her. However, he could only grasp onto the end of her sleeve and watch as Veronique's back hit the floor with a loud thud.

The next second, her white skirt was drenched in blood. Red liquid soaked the fabric. It was horrifying.

Justin's pupils constricted at the nightmarish scene. He raised his hand, ready to slap Olivia, but his rationale snapped back in place. Gaining back control, he bent down and carried Olivia to the emergency room.

“Zephyr, call Bailey immediately and have her come over.”

Zephyr glared at Olivia with a burning rage. His teeth clamped down on her arm and tore off a piece of flesh.

“Argh!”

A shrill scream sliced through the room.

Christopher dashed over to see his wife shrieking as she held her bloody arm tight to her chest.

He turned his gaze to his grandson and saw the hatred in Zephyr's eyes. His heart sank.

“Zep—”

Before he could get the whole word out of his mouth, Zephyr had run away.

Zephyr reached for the phone in his pocket as he ran.

Artemis should be glad that Zephyr called at just the right moment.

He would've been depressed if the kid had called ten minutes earlier.

“Get up quick! Zephyr called me earlier, saying Olivia pushed Vero. Now, Vero is bleeding profusely after a bad fall. The fertilized ovum had only been implanted into her body not long ago, yet she fell terribly. I fear—”

As she spoke, Artemis had already brought their clothes over.

“Stop talking and start changing. I'm sending you to the medical base.”
