Suddenly There Are Three (Bailey and Artemis) novel Chapter 384

Chapter 384

The hatred in Shannon's eyes wasn't easing up because she wasn't fazed by his explanation. I'll never trust anyone in this world again. My heart died when Eugene stopped breathing. I'll treat those two stabs as my revenge, and I'll never cross paths with this man again.

“Shanny...”

Shannon slowly let go of the handle of the knife before turning around and walking into the house, her movements stiff like a mindless puppet.

At that point, she had his blood all over her hand. With every step she took, a droplet of blood would drip onto the floor, leaving behind a bloody trail that made for a ghastly sight.

Micah was scared.

He didn't dare to touch her because he was afraid that she would completely lose her rationale.

However, he couldn't bear to watch her continue living her life as if she was a soulless person either.

Hence, he suddenly reached out to grab her arm. “Shanny, I really didn't send anyone to harm our son. Please believe me. Give me some time, and I'll find out who's behind it. I'll avenge our son.”

Shannon's eyes lit up slightly when she heard him talking about taking revenge.

Before Micah arrived, Bailey had already come to look for her to tell her about the situation. Hence, she knew he wasn't at fault for Eugene's death.

But so what? My son is already dead. He's dead! Even if Micah didn't orchestrate it, he was still involved. A tragedy happened, and there's nothing anyone can do to reverse it.

Yet, her numb heart ached once again when she heard him talking about avenging her son.

That's right. My son suffered a horrible death, and I'm supposed to avenge him.

Holding that thought, she gradually turned around and glared at him. “What if that woman is responsible for my son's death? Will you still avenge him?” she roared.

Micah narrowed his eyes slightly and kept mum in response.

The woman Shannon was talking about was Yvette Sullivan. She was the daughter of the previous head of Tarragon.

Seeing that he had gone silent, Shannon couldn't help but laugh mockingly. “You can't touch her, can you? Oh wait. Now you can. However, her father is your mentor, and he died saving your life. When he entrusted her life to you back then, you swore you wouldn't do anything to her, no matter how grave her mistakes are.”

Micah pursed his lips and stayed silent for a while before uttering through clenched teeth, “We haven't gotten to the bottom of it, so we can't be sure it's Yve.”

Upon hearing that, Shannon started chuckling. As she did so, beads of tears rolled down her cheeks. “Micah, you were just joking when you mentioned taking revenge, weren't you?”

With that, she abruptly shook his hand off her and pointed at the door. “This is the end of us! I don't want to see you ever again. Leave!” she shouted.

Perhaps due to excessive blood loss, Micah's face went pale, and he looked like he was on the verge of collapsing. “I promise you this. If Yvette truly is responsible for our son's death, I'll seek justice.”

Shannon staggered a few steps back and slumped onto the couch. Covering her face with one hand, she began to weep softly. Why is fate toying with us? Why is God putting so much pain into our lives? I have but one simple wish. I just want to live peacefully in a city with my son. It's such a simple wish, yet it's never going to happen.
