Suddenly There Are Three (Bailey and Artemis) novel Chapter 460

Chapter 460

There was nothing Holden could do about the fact that his son disdained him.

Given that he had been active in the underworld for years, no one in the world would dare disrespect him.

It was his first time to be disdained by someone else, not to mention by a bratty kid.

After listening to his explanation, Sebastian snorted softly. There was still a scowl on his face, but a small smile began to form at the corners of his lips.

This birth father of mine didn't end up disappointing me. Mmh. I'm quite satisfied.

Out of the corner of his eye, Holden glanced at Sebastian. Seeing the quirk on his lips, he could not help but reach out to caress his head.

After a moment of silence, he attempted to explain. “It's not that I don't care about you and your mother. I didn't know that you guys existed in the first place. Now that I've found out, of course, I'm not going to watch from afar anymore. Don't worry. I'll take good care of you two. I won't let anyone bully you guys.”

Sebastian felt rather awkward. Following a snort, he avoided Holden's touch. “If you dare to bully my mommy, I'll annoy you to death.”

Holden was speechless.

At Luther Group's headquarters, the atmosphere in the office on the top floor was incredibly suffocating. Each and every employee was trembling with fear, and they did not even dare to breathe too heavily.

Artemis leaned against the doorframe of the secretary's office. His eyes were narrowed as he stared at the chief secretary across from him and asked, “Why did you drug Mrs. Luther? She's always treated you like a friend. Because of that, she didn't have her guard up around you. You, on the other hand, decided to betray her.”

The chief secretary was so terrified that her legs turned to jelly. Unable to stand straight, she hurriedly grabbed onto the desk next to her to regain her balance.

“I-It wasn't me, Mr. Luther. It really wasn't me. Why would I drug Mrs. Luther? She's so kind to me. I wouldn't bite the hand that feeds me. There must be someone trying to frame me. I'm sure of it,” she insisted.

Without waiting for Artemis' response, Chloe, who had been standing at the side, stepped forward. She pointed at the chief secretary's nose and berated, “You ungrateful b*tch. Mrs. Luther has treated you so well, yet you harmed her. How could you betray her trust like that? You said you weren't the one who drugged her, but why are there traces of abortifacient found in the fruits that you served to Bailey? From what I remember, you brought the fruits from your hometown. Who could it be if not you?”

As soon as those words fell from her lips, the petrified employees were worried that they would be implicated. After thinking for a while, they all made the chief secretary their target, intending to make her bear that crime.

It was all about survival of the fittest. That was the only way they could protect themselves. They had no other choice. The corporate world was just that cruel—it was a dog-eat-dog world.

“Ms. West is right. It was the chief secretary. She was the one who drugged Mrs. Luther.”

“That's right. Even though she acts all respectful to Mrs. Luther, she's actually jealous of her.”

“You probably don't know this, Mr. Luther, but the chief secretary's been in love with you for a long time. She hated Mrs. Luther for stealing you, so she wanted to take revenge on her. She's downright vicious.”
