Lionel stretched out his arm hurriedly to support him.
Vincent took the opportunity to grab Lionel's arm. He looked at him firmly and said, “Don't tell Vicky the grudge between us from the previous generation. We shouldn't ruin your lives because of it. Promise me you'll treat my daughter well.”
Lionel helped Vincent up and placed him on the bed. “She has the right to know.”
Vincent's eyes narrowed.
It was only natural for parents to worry about their children.
He had chosen to be misunderstood by Victoria for all these years rather than tell her the truth because he didn't want her to live in hatred.
Now that his days were numbered, he could not just sit back and watch Lionel ruin Victoria's life by telling her the truth.
“Vicky is pregnant, Lionel. Do you want her to be a single mom with no one to rely on? If you feel you've failed her, you should bury the past in your heart. Never tell her the truth. Just pretend that Vicky's mother fell off the cliff by accident and your father had nothing to do with it. I'm a dying person. I hope you can understand my eagerness to protect my daughter, please.”
Lionel slowly closed his eyes.
Indeed, he didn't want to keep Victoria in the dark about her mother's death and believed she had the right to know it.
However, Vincent had a point. Victoria would surely leave him if she found out the truth.
How was she going to survive on her own with a child?
“Okay. I promise I won't mention this matter first.”
Feeling relief from his tension all of a sudden, Vincent collapsed on the bed.
That's great. The grudges of the previous generation have come to an end. It shouldn't be brought forward to the next generation. It's painful to live with hatred.
Victoria had planned to go upstairs to eavesdrop on the conversation between her father and Lionel.
Just after she came out of the kitchen, she saw Zayron and the others coming from a long distance away.
Shortly after, Zayron appeared in front of Victoria and hugged her by her thighs.
“Vicky, you still have us.”
Tears started to well up in Victoria's eyes.
Right. I still have my family and friends. Some people are destined to leave, and it's impossible to stop them. The only thing I can do is protect those by my side.
“I know. Don't worry. I've slowly accepted the reality. I won't do anything foolish.” With that, she looked at the mansion entrance. When she did not see Bailey, she asked in confusion, “Didn't your mommy come with you guys?”
“She has something to do and will come in the afternoon.”
Bailey called Juliana, asking her to help search for the emerald seal. However, she was told by the latter that it was in the hands of the Hoffman family.
Bailey had wanted to go to Moranta. However, Juliana told her she didn't need to go there herself. Instead, she would find a way to get the red emerald and send someone to Hallsbay with it.
Seeing how confident Juliana was, Bailey thought it was an opportunity to train her, so she agreed.
Although time was almost up and Bailey would be sued by Lina for defamation if she couldn't find the authentic emerald seal, she didn't pressure Juliana and only reminded her to be careful and not to act hastily.
Meanwhile, at a coffee shop, Bailey was smiling at Zeke, who was seated across the table.
With raised brows, she asked, “May I know why you wanted to meet me, Mr. Shurmer?”
Don't tell me he's confronting me after finding out it was Zayron who caused the fire at the engagement party the other day. I feel helpless having a mischievous child too.
Zeke remained silent as he looked at her face carefully. He thought they looked more alike the more he looked at her.
