Tears streamed down Vincent's skinny face.
He shifted his gaze to Lionel and twitched his lips. He appeared to have something to say but was unable to do so because he did not dare to say it in front of his daughter.
Lionel immediately understood what he was trying to say. “Don't worry. I'll keep my promise. I'll take good care of Victoria and protect her for the rest of my life,” Lionel said as he leaned over and reached out for Vincent's hand.
As he spoke, he pulled something out of his pocket and showed it to Vincent.
When Vincent saw the words “Marriage Certificate,” he started crying once again.
“Good. Now, I can rest in peace.” With the last bit of his strength, he placed his daughter's hand in Lionel's and whispered, “I-I'll leave my daughter in your care, b-but you better treat her well, or I-I'll come back to haunt you.”
As soon as Vincent finished speaking, his arm fell limply, and he gradually closed his eyes.
His controversial life had also come to an end.
Everyone claimed that he was cruel, as he refused to let go of his late friend and caused the Gezmond family to be destroyed.
Nobody was aware that he was actually the victim.
He was deeply in love with his wife. They had a happy family, but it was destroyed in the end by Benjamin, who was worse than a monster.
All the goodwill and resentment should now vanish with the passing of everyone from his generation.
Victoria hugged her father's body and burst into tears.
At the same time, Lionel slowly bent his knees to kneel on the carpet and silently vowed in his heart. Don't worry. I won't let Victoria find out about the feud between our families.
Outside of the bedroom, Bailey's eyes gradually turned red as she heard the crying inside.
Victoria had hated her father ever since the incident seven years ago and had never returned home.
However, when she wanted to make up for lost time after realizing that there was something odd about what had happened back then and that she might have misunderstood her father, her father had already passed away.
Could there be anything in this world that was more agonizing and unacceptable than that?
“Don't let your emotions take over,” Artemis reminded.
“Artemis, am I doing the right thing?” Bailey asked, her eyes welling up with tears. “For the sake of Zoey Shurmer, I concealed my identity and kept my biological parents in the dark. They'd probably never find out the truth.”
Pulling her into his embrace, Artemis comforted her, “Zeke already knows the truth. He's now the head of the Shurmer family and represents the entire family. His decision is for everyone in the Shurmer family. If he cares about you, he'll handle this matter properly.”
