Pregnant?
Go abroad?
Perhaps...
When Bailey recalled Juliana's strange behavior before she left Hallsbay, a thought flashed across her mind.
Maybe, that night, Zeke slept with Juliana?
Then again, how did Shirley get pregnant?
Since she dared to go to the Shurmer family and tell them about her pregnancy, she must be very confident that the child she was carrying belonged to Zeke. Otherwise, a paternity test would expose her.
Did Zeke sleep with both of them that night?
If that's the case, it'll be a mess!
“Bailey, it doesn't matter who is carrying Uncle Zeke's child. Right now, the most important thing is to stop Uncle Zeke from marrying the other woman. Let's sort everything out first. What do you think?”
Suddenly, Bailey returned to her senses. Yes, the boy is right.
I'll have to stop Zeke and Shirley from registering their marriage. If Julie is indeed carrying Zeke's child, then the two of them will have missed their chance to be together, won't they?
She took out her phone and dialed Zeke's number.
The phone rang for three seconds before it was being answered. She could hear the cold voice of Zeke's. “Yes, Bay? What can I do for you?”
In that instant, Bailey's heart sank. “Where are you now?”
After a moment of silence, Zeke replied leisurely, “I'm at the bar. Did something happen to you?”
He sounded anxious all of a sudden.
Bailey took a deep breath before she said through gritted teeth, “Are you with Shirley?”
“We received our marriage certificate.” Zeke even joked, “Aren't you going to congratulate me? At last, I have settled my marriage issue.”
“Which bar are you at?”
“The one on the other side.”
“Wait for me. I'm coming to look for you.”
That took Zeke by surprise. “Don't come here. It's very noisy. If there's something urgent, I can come to the Luther residence right now.”
“No, I'll go there and look for you,” said Bailey obstinately.
With that, she hung up the phone and rushed out the door.
Felicity reminded her, “Be careful. Take a coat with you so that you won't catch a cold. Get the driver to send you there. Don't drive on your own.”
“All right.”
Back at the Shurmer residence, it had only been half an hour since Shirley received her marriage certificate. Yet, she was shocked when she saw the trending news on the Internet.
That wh*re, Juliana, is pregnant?
He had been waiting outside for the past three days, hoping that she would change her mind.
Unfortunately, she did not. She seemed to have gone to a dead end.
“Must we get a divorce?”
After not getting any sleep for the past few days, Justin looked very haggard. When he talked, his voice sounded hoarse.
Veronique opened her eyes slowly and looked at him calmly. “My dad, my sister, and Zephyr have all failed to talk me out of it. Justin, do you think you can change my mind with just a few words? Don't waste your time. I don't want to hear it.”
“I won't.” Justin continued, “I suppose you won't listen to reasons now. Perhaps, only the most simple and brutal method can awaken you.”
With that, he picked up the fruit knife from the nightstand.
Veronique's expression changed abruptly. “Justin, what are you trying to do? Don't be crazy. Stop—”
Before she could finish her sentence, Justin stabbed himself in the abdomen with the fruit knife.
The sudden intense pain assaulted his senses, and he fell to his knees. His handsome face turned pale in an instant.
So did Veronique's face. After much struggle, she sat up and grabbed his arm before yelling, “Justin, why must you do this?”
A sad smile appeared on Justin's face.
“I have stabbed myself in the abdomen, but it won't kill me. If you continue to behave in this nonchalant manner, I will stab myself in the heart.”
He was about to pull the knife out when Veronique rolled off the bed and fell into his arms.
