Howard was in a panic.
He kept shooting looks at his assistant and tried to hint that his assistant had to get rid of all the so-called evidence.
However, Howard didn't need to do that, as his assistant had already planned to destroy everything.
Since they were in the same boat, they would share the same glory and humiliation. If Howard failed, his assistant would also suffer the consequences.
The truth behind the situation gradually became more apparent. Things were becoming highly unfavorable for Howard. There was a possibility that they would have to face dire consequences if they did not find a solution to make things right.
“Leave while they're distracted and get rid of everything.”
“Yes, sir.”
However, their plan failed. Zeke caught Howard's assistant just as the latter tried to sneak away.
“Where are you going, Mr. Clairmont? Things here aren't settled, yet you're rushing to leave. What's wrong? Are you not going to continue accusing my sister of breaking the law? I remember the so-called evidence is still in your hands. You can leave if you want to, but don't take the evidence that determines my sister's crime with you.”
Sh*t! Mr. Clairmont quickly took out a lighter from his pocket and tried to burn the documents in his hand.
Zeke narrowed his eyes and instinctively tried to stop Mr. Clairmont, but someone beat him to it.
A glint of light flashed past his eyes, and he soon heard Mr. Clairmont crying in pain as the latter held his wrist.
An extremely sharp dart was stabbed into the back of his hand. Blood spurted everywhere, and the documents in his hand scattered to the ground.
“Andy, gather all those documents.” Bailey tilted her head to look at Andy and ordered.
“Yes, Mrs. Luther.” With that, Andy swooped down the stairs and picked up the documents on the ground before Howard could do it.
Bailey slowly walked down the stairs and stood before Howard. She smirked and said, “You said you have ironclad evidence, right? But I didn't embezzle any funds. The money was used to sponsor university students. Mr. Lewis, may I know where you got this evidence of my so-called embezzling of the charity's funds? Could it be that you purposely fabricated evidence to frame me?”
Howard felt a chill run down his spine as he trembled. Regaining his composure, he stubbornly said, “Perhaps we were mistaken. You did not embezzle the charity's funds, but what about your other crimes? What do you have to say about that?”
Bailey smiled as she shook her head. “If I remember correctly, you're only here to investigate the charity fund embezzlement issue. You didn't investigate this issue properly and used nonexistent evidence to accuse me, thereby causing a scene and making a fool out of yourself. Can we even believe that the other crimes I committed are true? I won't admit to any of those so-called crimes you listed.”
“You...”
