Chapter 845 Kill Philip
Gerald reached out and patted Bailey's shoulder. “You're a good kid, sensible and understanding. With you by his side, we should never have believed that he had met with disaster. If we hadn't believed the rumors from the start, we wouldn't have ended up in this distressing situation.”
Bailey smiled and shook her head. “You're not wrong. You're just trying to force me to keep living. Besides, even without you, things would still happen.”
Gerald let out a sigh, then changed the subject. “What do we do now? That woman hates you to the core. If we let her escape, she'll be a threat to you.”
“It's alright.” Bailey waved her hand dismissively and replied unconcerned, “She can't escape. Mr. Philip is the only person she can turn to now. Coincidentally, we're also heading back to Moranta to deal with Mr. Philip. We can take care of her at the same time. Without any person to back her up, she won't be able to stir any trouble.”
A hint of approval flashed in Gerald's eyes. This young lady radiates a light of wisdom that soothes the soul, calming one's restlessness. Together, they are a formidable pair. They have nothing to fear even as they attempt to make their presence known internationally. “All right, all right, I believe you will overcome all challenges and create a peaceful life for yourselves.”
“Mm-hmm.”
Meanwhile, at Mortality Base, inside the tent by the brook, Sofie used every means in her arsenal to pleasure Damien.
A woman in her forties was at the peak of her maturity and allure, capable of providing men with unprecedented joy.
Damien had been with quite a few women, but it was with Sofie that he rediscovered the feeling of first love.
In the past, he worked as a bodyguard for Leo, while she was Leo's mistress.
He would always sneak a peek when they were getting intimate, fantasizing about the day he could have his turn with her.
Now that my wish had been fulfilled, the satisfaction was indeed addictive.
Fornication was all about indulging in a certain sentiment.
“Damien, are you satisfied?”
The man cast a sidelong glance at her, his voice husky as he spoke. “I know what you want. Tell me, why should I help you?”
Sofie curled her red lips, leaning in to whisper in his ear, “I want you to kill Mr. Philip and his son to take over their reign, then help my son seize control of the Hoffman family. What do you think?”
A glint flashed across Damien's eyes.
“This idea appeals to me greatly. So, how do you plan to win me over?”
She breathed softly into his ear, chuckling lightly. “From now on, I'll only be your woman.”
“All right, it's settled then. After we leave Mortality Base, we're heading to Moranta.”
“Thank you... Damien.”
At the same time, at Tarragon Headquarters.
Inside the reception room, Wendy sat in the chair, blankly staring at the water cup she was holding in her hand.
She asked Bailey to take her back to Hallsbay, and the latter clearly agreed, but in the end, she tricked her, sending her to Tarragon instead.
The guard asked her to wait there.
She knew who she was waiting for, but she was actually quite reluctant to face him.
After everything she'd been through, all she wanted was to live a peaceful life.
His world was too complex, perilous, and unsuitable for her and Sebastian to survive in.
In a daze, a surge of strength coursed through my arm.
Next, her head spun, and she found herself pressed against the desk by a tall and slender figure.
“Help—”
Instinctively, she wanted to cry out for help. However, upon recognizing who the other person was, she barely managed to catch herself.
Tears uncontrollably streamed down her cheeks as she looked at the handsome face before her.
Holden gently wiped away her tears with the pad of his finger, his movements tender. “You've lost weight. You must have had a tough time recently.”
Wendy gently turned her face away, evading his intense gaze.
She had indeed lost weight. I've been through a lot recently, so how could I not lose weight? “This has nothing to do with you. Let me go.” He was never there for me whenever I was in a pickle. Who is he showing his heartbroken and distressed look to now?
It seemed as if Holden could see right through her thoughts. He leaned in to kiss her eyes, laughing as he said, “Are you upset with me because I didn't come to your rescue?”
Wendy reached out, steadying herself on his shoulder, her voice cold and hard. “What does my life or death have to do with you? You're not obligated to save me.”
With a helpless chuckle, Holden continued, “If I were to rescue you, it would only put you in greater danger. Sofie is a woman with a high degree of vigilance. Without absolute certainty, I cannot possibly act rashly. Bailey and Artemis said they had a way to rescue you. I thought it was feasible, so I agreed. At least it won't put you in danger.”
Seemingly struck by a sudden thought, Wendy became worked up. She abruptly grabbed Holden's collar, her beautiful eyes wide open in agitation. “Indeed, I came out unscathed, but someone else died in Sofie's hands in my stead. Holden, do you know that I'm responsible for a person's death now? Do you know, do you know?”
As she continued speaking, she suddenly burst into tears.
Because of her, a life was lost. Nightmares constantly haunted her, robbing her of peace day and night.
If given the choice, she really wouldn't want someone else to die in her place. The thought of it was just too painful.
Holden moved closer to her, bending down to kiss her lips, and began to make his move.
After crying for a while, Wendy suddenly felt a chill running through her body and quickly came to her senses. “No, don't do this.”
Holden's rationale was already overwhelmed by lust, so there was no way he would listen to her.
All he wanted to do at that moment was to get intimate with her. “There, there, don't be afraid.”
Wendy wanted to struggle, but her arm was held firmly by him, leaving her unable to move.
Gradually, she gave up resisting.
Even though she constantly warned herself not to get entangled with that man anymore, she still sadly discovered that she couldn't leave him.
His tenderness and consideration were like opium, addictive and captivating, making it impossible for her to extricate herself from his allure. “Holden, you b*stard...”
He didn't respond.
Meanwhile, inside a private mansion at Moranta, Shaun suddenly sprang up from his bed, his face filled with disbelief as he stared at Tucker at the foot of his bed.
“W-What did you say? S-Sofie lost? Everyone under her command was wiped out?”
Tucker nodded solemnly.
His expression was grim as well.
After all, he had invested half of his manpower into that scheme, and now that the entire force had been wiped out, he undoubtedly suffered a devastating loss.
“Wendy took her own life halfway through, and that foolish woman Sofie didn't have a backup plan. After infuriating Holden, she was exterminated by him.”
Shaun strode up to him, grabbed him by the collar, and roared, “Do you have any idea I've invested a third of the Carter family's power in this plan? Now that the entire army was annihilated, how am I supposed to deal with the bastard in my family? Tucker, you're f*cking causing my demise.”
Tucker furrowed his brows, abruptly pushing Shaun away and uttering hoarsely, “What are you afraid of? Don't we still have two-thirds of our power left? That's more than enough to deal with that bastard.”
Shaun staggered back a couple of steps, collapsing directly onto the bed. If all else fails, I'll have no choice but to abandon my son, using Caridee as a bargaining chip to force that bastard to show up. I need to do away with him first.
Tucker's eyes gleamed, a scheming glint flashing in his gaze. “Mr. Carter, how about this? You assign a third of your manpower to help me become the head of the Hoffman family, and in return, I will use all my power to help you eliminate Veikko. What do you think?”
What do I think? To h*ll with that! Shaun completely lost it!
