Suddenly There Are Three (Bailey and Artemis) novel Chapter 868

Chapter 868 Have Some Self Respect

Shoun norrowed his eyes slightly.

Even though Astrid repeotedly ossured him thot Simon would bring Coridee to the bonquet, he didn't wont to moke ony more mistokes.

He would be furious if he got himself onother imposter.

After o moment of silence, he leoned in ond whispered o few words into the bodyguord's eor.

After heoring this, the bodyguord wos token obock for o moment. “Mr. Corter, I-I'm ofroid I won't be oble to impersonote convincingly. She might recognize me ot first glonce.”

Shoun's onger flored, ond he slopped him ocross the foce while scolding fiercely, “Coword! Whot ore you so ofroid of? So whot if they recognize you? All you need to do is confirm whether she is Coridee or not. Whot's the worst thot could hoppen?”

The bodyguord promptly responded, “Rest ossured, Mr. Corter. I will definitely hondle this motter properly.”

“Get lost.”

The bodyguord hod just got out of the cor when Shoun's phone, begon to ring in his hond.

He glonced ot it ond sow thot it wos o coll from Astrid.

“Whot's the motter?”

“Mr. Corter, luck seems to be fovoring you. Aisley just contocted me, instructing me to blow up the hotel ond ruin the wedding. This is o golden opportunity, ond you mustn't let it slip owoy. Seize Coridee omidst the choos ond toke odvontoge of the situotion.”

Shoun let out on icy snort ond osked, “Where ore you right now? As soon os I copture Coridee, you must be reody to oppeor ond impersonote her.”

“Don't worry, I've been preporing for this doy for o long time, woiting for this perfect moment. I won't let such on opportunity slip through my fingers. I'm discreetly stotioned ot the wedding venue, woiting for you to copture Coridee. Once you do, I'll step in to toke her ploce.”

Shoun didn't respond ond simply ended the coll.

All he could do now is woit for his subordinotes to confirm whether the womon occomponying Simon wos truly Coridee.

As soon os it wos confirmed, he would immediotely toke oction.

In the open-oir porking lot outside the hotel, Simon porked the cor ot the very end.

Confused, Coridee osked, “Why didn't you pork ot the underground porking lot?”

As Simon unbuckled his seotbelt, he exploined, “The underground porking lot is too crowded. If something unexpected hoppens loter, it won't be eosy to moke o quick escope. This ploce is different. Once we're out, we con drive off ot ony moment. It's much more reloxed ond flexible.”

Coridee rolled her eyes, feeling somewhot exosperoted. She retorted, “You're here to ottend o wedding feost, not wolk into o trop. Whot kind of unexpected situotion could possibly orise?”
Shaun narrowed his eyes slightly.

Even though Astrid repeatedly assured him that Simon would bring Caridee to the banquet, he didn't want to make any more mistakes.

He would be furious if he got himself another imposter.

After a moment of silence, he leaned in and whispered a few words into the bodyguard's ear.

After hearing this, the bodyguard was taken aback for a moment. “Mr. Carter, I-I'm afraid I won't be able to impersonate convincingly. She might recognize me at first glance.”

Shaun's anger flared, and he slapped him across the face while scolding fiercely, “Coward! What are you so afraid of? So what if they recognize you? All you need to do is confirm whether she is Caridee or not. What's the worst that could happen?”

The bodyguard promptly responded, “Rest assured, Mr. Carter. I will definitely handle this matter properly.”

“Get lost.”

The bodyguard had just got out of the car when Shaun's phone, began to ring in his hand.

He glanced at it and saw that it was a call from Astrid.

“What's the matter?”

“Mr. Carter, luck seems to be favoring you. Aisley just contacted me, instructing me to blow up the hotel and ruin the wedding. This is a golden opportunity, and you mustn't let it slip away. Seize Caridee amidst the chaos and take advantage of the situation.”

Shaun let out an icy snort and asked, “Where are you right now? As soon as I capture Caridee, you must be ready to appear and impersonate her.”

“Don't worry, I've been preparing for this day for a long time, waiting for this perfect moment. I won't let such an opportunity slip through my fingers. I'm discreetly stationed at the wedding venue, waiting for you to capture Caridee. Once you do, I'll step in to take her place.”

Shaun didn't respond and simply ended the call.

All he could do now is wait for his subordinates to confirm whether the woman accompanying Simon was truly Caridee.

As soon as it was confirmed, he would immediately take action.

In the open-air parking lot outside the hotel, Simon parked the car at the very end.

Confused, Caridee asked, “Why didn't you park at the underground parking lot?”

As Simon unbuckled his seatbelt, he explained, “The underground parking lot is too crowded. If something unexpected happens later, it won't be easy to make a quick escape. This place is different. Once we're out, we can drive off at any moment. It's much more relaxed and flexible.”

Caridee rolled her eyes, feeling somewhat exasperated. She retorted, “You're here to attend a wedding feast, not walk into a trap. What kind of unexpected situation could possibly arise?”

“Keeping my guard up is always a good idea.”

Right after he said that, his phone in his pocket began to ring.

He fished it out and discovered it was a call from Aisley.

“Simon, have you arrived? The wedding banquet is about to begin. Can you hurry over? I have something to tell you.”

Simon subconsciously glanced at his wristwatch and replied casually, “Yeah, I'm here. If you're really in a hurry, you can say it over the phone. It's the same.”

“It's different,” Aisley retorted, her voice choked. “There are so many things that just can't be clearly expressed through the phone. Could you please come to the bride's makeup room to see me? If you don't want to come to the makeup room, we can go to the lounge instead.”

Simon furrowed his brows. He fell silent for a moment before replying calmly, “All right then, you can go to my private room. I'll be there in three minutes.”

“Okay then. You must come.”

“Mm.”

After he ended the call, Caridee tutted a few times.

“Simon, aren't you afraid that she might have ill intentions? She could knock you down and try to make the groom a cuckold. I've heard rumors that Prince Fabian is actually the illegitimate child of the royal family and has no power or influence. Anyone with a brain would choose you. There must be a reason why Ms. Lockett chose him. Perhaps she's considering calling off the engagement. Once you get involved with her, you're playing right into her hands, and you'll be the one who ends up miserable.”

Simon reached out and knocked her head. “You jinx. Do you want to see your brother slip up?”

After saying that, he pushed open the car door and got out.

Caridee also got out of the car.

“Go meet your ex-girlfriend while I'll take a stroll around.”

After pondering briefly, Simon suggested, “Why don't you stay in the banquet hall? There are many people there, so you'll be safe.”

Caridee felt the urge to argue back, but upon catching Simon's warning gaze, she reluctantly decided to compromise.t.

“Fine, I'll head in, okay?”

After escorting her into the banquet hall, Simon then proceeded to his own private room.

Caridee watched her brother's retreating figure as she glanced around.

If that woman doesn't know her place and continues bothering Simon, I'll step in and teach her a lesson. Rhonda called to inform me that my future second sister-in-law is the eldest daughter of the Rogers family and is to my liking. She also instructed me to keep a close eye on Simon, ensuring he doesn't reunite with that gold-digger and entangle himself with her again. A woman who immediately seeks another man after a breakup isn't worth Simon's pursuit and patience. Since Rhonda mentioned that Ms. Rogers is to my liking, she must be a remarkable person.

Simon pushed the door to his private room open and stepped in. Just as he closed the door behind him, a slender figure rushed toward him, throwing herself into his arms.

“Simon, you've finally arrived,” she wailed.

Simon frowned and instinctively wanted to push her away.

He hasn't forgotten their current identities.

She was getting married today, and he was here to attend her wedding as a guest.

“Aisley, please have some self-respect.”

The moment he began to speak, Aisley burst into loud, uncontrollable sobs.

“You're so smart. Can't you see that I'm being forced?”

Simon's fist slowly clenched, his eyes swirling with shattered light.

He used to love her. Even though he had given up on her, the feelings from the past still lingered.

“Regardless of the circumstances, we can no longer be together. You have your groom, and I have my daughter. Since fate has decreed it so, let's accept it with grace. If there's nothing significant you need to share with me, I'll take my leave.”

As soon as he finished speaking, he began to pry her fingers away.

Aisley panicked instantly.

In the past, Simon had never been this indifferent to her, and she felt that she was in control of him.

However, things had changed.

Something told her that if he walked out that door today, everything between them would be irrevocably over.

Her ultimate fate rested on either marrying Fabian or facing complete ruin.

“Simon, please listen to me. I've been forced into this situation. The Lockett family has been entangled in some unsavory dealings with the royal family in the past. The royals fear that my family might reveal their dark secrets, so they've proposed this marriage alliance to secure their interests. To protect my family, I'm left with no choice but to sacrifice myself. But can you bear to witness me becoming a pawn in this political marriage? Once the royal family and the Lockett family turn against each other, I'll be the first to suffer. I don't want to face such a fate. Simon, can you save me? If you marry me, the Lockett and Luther families will unite, and the royal family wouldn't dare to offend the Luther family.”

Simon's handsome face tensed up, and a chilling glint flashed in his eyes.

“Did you ask me to meet just to use me as your human shield?”
