Cameron asked bluntly, sounding as if he had said that through gritted teeth.
Bailey couldn't help but laugh, shaking her head and saying, “I don't know. We'll just have to go with the flow and see how things go from here. Cameron, even though Blaze has returned, Kurt is still not dead. We cannot afford to let our guards down.”
Cameron scoffed, “I knew you couldn't let him go. No matter how grave his mistakes, you would never punish him. Bailey, you used to be free-spirited and unrestrained, doing whatever you want without thinking about anyone else. But now, you've actually given up your principles for a man. Jeez, you've truly changed. The old you would never tolerate betrayal from others, but now... Whatever, you've always been spineless in front of Luther. How could I expect you to stand up for yourself just this once? You'd better look out for yourself.”
After saying that, he strode into the room.
Bailey could only shake her head helplessly.
She was indeed free-spirited and unrestrained, but the most important part was that Artemis had never betrayed her.
If he were to betray her, she wouldn't need anyone else to tell her to cut ties with him as she would do so herself and become strangers with him.
Regardless, that man cherished her more than his life, so how could he ever betray or hurt her?
After leaving the mansion, Bailey made another call to Catherine, briefing her about the situation at the manor.
Then, she also asked Catherine if she could neutralize the stupefying drug that Eunice had drugged Cameron with.
Catherine was better than Eunice at the art of perfumery. Hence, undoing the stupefying drug Eunice concocted wasn't much of a problem for Catherine.
However, she still needed to meet Cameron in person to understand the nature of the stupefying drug in order to concoct the corresponding antidote.
“Right, there's no rush on this matter. It's fine for Cameron to remain as he is for now. This way, Eunice will mistakenly think that we've fallen into her trap. When she reports back to Kurt, it will also make him lower his guard.”
“I see. I thought you were in a hurry for me to go back and snap Mr. Yablon back to his senses. If it's not that urgent, I'll stay a few more days at the Rogers residence and sort everything out before leaving.”
“Sure.”
After ending the call, Bailey happened to pass by a garden, where he overheard a few housekeepers chatting about the “scandal” that occurred last night.
These people were all hired by her. She was their employer, and naturally, their hearts were inclined toward her.
So when they talked about Artemis, they were quite blunt. They verbally attacked him, belittling the man until he was worth less than a penny.
To be honest, the injustice Artemis suffered this time was truly immense.
Everyone in the manor was accusing him of being heartless and unfaithful.
Even the children wore expressions of disdain, wishing they could whisk her away, far from their good-for-nothing father.
Suffering from this undeserved disaster for no reason at all was truly unfortunate and pitiful.
Artemis was currently on a call with Wilfred inside the study of the main house.
The other party seemed quite agitated, as their roar could be heard even through the phone.
“Mr. Luther, you said that Kurt would attack the headquarters of White Group within two days of getting that seal, didn't you? But it's been four days now, and there's still no sign of any activity from his side. Can you tell me what's going on? Do you know that he can use the White family's seal to mobilize all the power of the White family? In other words, if we don't act now and take him down, it won't be long before he undermines my authority. With that seal, he'll ascend to the position of the family head.”
Artemis lazily leaned against the window sill, coolly gazing in the direction of the artificial lake.
Over there, from time to time, a few housekeepers would gather and point toward the place where he and Eunice were entangled.
