“Show up? Why should I show up? To fall into the trap you've set, get caught in your net, and end up with nowhere to lay my body to rest? Old geezer, don't think your actions are flawless. Little do you know, your laughable plan has long been seen through by me.”
“What... What did you say?” A surprised inquiry came from the other end of the line. “What do you mean you've seen through our plans? What exactly do you know?”
Kurt didn't want to waste his breath on him. He simply spat out a name, “Cersei.”
Although there was nothing spectacular about Wilfred, he was not stupid. Upon hearing that name, he instantly understood the situation.
No wonder Kurt didn't make a move even after getting the seal. It turns out that the brat, Cersei, has been stirring up trouble in the middle.
He was filled with regret, hating himself for being too kind-hearted back then for not silencing that girl. Now, all his meticulous plans had fallen apart because of this.
“Despite my careful calculations, I never anticipated that Cersei would escape and reveal my collaboration with Artemis to you. Ah, after all that planning, I still lost because of my soft heart. What an injustice, such an injustice.”
With a cold smile, Kurt picked up the seal from the table, holding it in his hand and playing with it carefully.
“Now that I hold the family heirloom, old geezer, if you still wish to live, heed my advice. Step down from your position as the head of the White family willingly and hand over the reins to me. Otherwise, I will gradually devour your power, letting you experience firsthand what it feels like to be betrayed by someone you trust.”
Wilfred had called him with a different purpose, to begin with, so how could he be thrown into disarray by the young man's threats?
“That's right. You do indeed have the family heirloom in your hands. But what of it? You surely can't turn my confidants against me immediately, can you? B*stard, do you know why I haven't given your mother a proper burial all these years? It's because she doesn't deserve to be laid to rest in my White family's cemetery. Since you've chosen to disregard our father-son bond, I see no need to dwell on past affections. I'm giving you twenty-four hours to think it over. If you don't return the family seal, I will reduce your mother to ashes.”
After speaking, the other party immediately ended the call.
In Kurt's life, there were two taboos. The first was his mother, and the second was his origin.
How could he swallow his anger now that Wilfred was threatening him with his own mother, even boasting about reducing her to ashes?
It wasn't that he loved his mother's ashes so much, but rather, this suddenly exposed scar hurt him so much that he wished he could slaughter everyone in this world.
The moment the call ended, Kurt abruptly stood up from the couch.
He gripped his phone tightly, his knuckles cracking under the strain, his eyes filled with murderous intent.
Artemis was besieged by the news of his betrayal of Bailey, leaving him no time to attend to other matters. He was planning to seize this opportunity to catch Wilfred off guard.
Unexpectedly, the old geezer was courting death, threatening him with his mother's ashes.
Very well!
After all, the grudges between us need to be settled once and for all. There's no better day than today, so let it be today.
With that thought in mind, he shouted to the outside, “Bring Cersei to see me.”
“Understood.”
Before long, Cersei pushed the door open and walked in.
“Kurt, did you need something from me?”
Kurt looked at her coldly, his voice deep as he said, “Don't you resent that old geezer for sending you to the church to become a nun? Today, I will avenge you. But before that, I need your help.”
Cersei looked up, meeting his gaze, and said deliberately, “As long as you help me get Artemis, I can do anything for you.”
“Very well.” Kurt settled back onto the couch and asked, “How much do you know about the defense of the Venom Valley?”
Cersei was no naive little girl. Having learned from her mother for so many years, she had been thoroughly influenced.
Hearing his question, she immediately understood what he wanted to do.
“I may not know much, but it's enough to open a path for you to enter the valley smoothly. I assure you, your people won't lose even a single stand of hair.”
“Excellent, then you should return to Venom Valley now and interfere with the defense system to let me in.”
Cersei found herself in a dilemma. “Kurt, if I go back looking like this, even if I enter the Venom Valley, I'm afraid I'll be caught immediately.”
