“M-Mr. Luther, we...”
The suicide attacker rolled over, lazily leaning against the head of the bed. He reached for the cigarettes on the bedside table and lit one, then took a deep puff.
“It was me who initiated contact with you, and I will take responsibility for you. Previously, due to Bailey's presence, I didn't save you and let her send you to the church. Now, I've broken off with Bailey, and the whole world accuses me of being heartless and ungrateful, of betraying Bailey. Indeed, the facts are just as they say. Without her controlling me, I can now be with whoever I want and sleep with whoever I want. No one will control me anymore. You don't have to worry, as no one can hurt you. Although I can't promise you anything, I won't just abandon you like this.”
The sincerity in the man's words by the bedside reached Cersei's ears, causing her heart to tremble uncontrollably.
She urgently wanted to say something and quickly got up to embrace him.
“Mr. Luther, I fell in love with you the moment I laid my eyes on you. I don't need any title. All I ask is for you to keep me by your side. Your thinking is correct. As a man as outstanding and powerful as you, you shouldn't be burdened by a woman. The world is so wonderful, and a man should live freely, savoring all the beauty it has to offer. Only then will life not be in vain.”
The suicide attacker reached out, gently lifting her chin, and planted a kiss on her lips.
Cersei was utterly charmed by him, lying softly in his arms, as delicate as if she had not a single bone in her body.
The suicide attacker slightly lowered his head, a glint of somber light flashing in his eyes.
“It's getting late. Why don't you stay here tonight? Tomorrow, I'll arrange a nice place for you to stay. Once I've dealt with the matters in Gregan, I'll take you back to Hallsbay. You'll stay with me for a while. If I find you agreeable, I'll consider giving you a title then. For now, I'm afraid you'll have to bear with it.”
Cersei's heart leaped with joy. She hadn't expected this man to actually promise to take her to Hallsbay.
Now that he was really going to do that, she would surely find a way to make him marry her.
“M-Mr. Luther, are you... are you really taking me to Hallsbay?”
The suicide attacker's gaze shifted downwards, falling to the side.
“Now that you're my woman, it's only natural that I take responsibility for you.”
Cersei's pretty face turned a darker shade of red, and she buried her head in the crook of his arm, her body gently trembling.
She was over the moon.
Happiness came so unexpectedly that it caught her off guard.
“Mr. Luther, I promise to be obedient. I won't be jealous, I won't compare myself to others, I won't interfere with your private life, and I won't meddle in your relationships with other women. I love you, and all I want is to quietly stand by your side. I won't bring any trouble to your life. I'll be nothing more than a pet you keep.”
Men generally enjoy hearing such words. She thought that Artemis should be no exception.
Sure enough, as soon as she finished speaking, a deep, magnetic voice came from above. “Good girl, compared to the willful woman like Bailey, I prefer your gentleness.”
After he finished speaking, he reached out, ready to pin her down.
Cersei thought of the task Kurt had assigned her and quickly spoke up. “Mr. Luther, Kurt wants me to go to the Venom Valley and break through a defense for him to enter. I know you've always wanted to kill Kurt, but I don't understand what grudge you hold against him. Could you... tell me about it?”
A glint flashed in the suicide attacker's eyes. He hadn't even broached the subject yet, and unexpectedly, this woman had taken the initiative to bring it up.
