On the top floor of the inpatient department of Redland Hospital was a VVIP ward where the daily fees amounted to several thousand dollars. Dylan stepped out of the elevator and walked to the end of the corridor, pushing open the door of the ward guarded by several bodyguards clad in black.
Once inside, he locked the door behind him, just as he had done every time.
The man lying on the hospital bed, who had his eyes closed, quickly removed the various equipment attached to his body and sat up.
"Take it easy, don't strain your back," Dylan said. He was only half joking.
Kevan had spent nearly six years in the hospital. Initially, he was in the military hospital, but he couldn't stay there for an extended time due to the scarcity of beds. Hence, he transferred to Redland Hospital, which was a private hospital for the wealthy. As long as he paid the hospital, he could stay as long as he wanted.
Kevan had been confined in a small space for a long time. As such, his muscles gradually deteriorated due to lack of exercise, and his physical agility was far from what it used to be.
Kevan's sharp gaze, akin to a hawk's, fell upon Dylan. Without Kevan prompting him, Dylan knew what he wanted to ask.
"Yes, something happened to Aster at the kindergarten."
Ever since Kevan learned of Larissa's return, he had arranged for someone to be by her side. For one, it was to protect her from any harm by the Rogers, and on the other hand, it was to keep track of her movements in case she disappeared without a word again.
Larissa's daily routine was terrifyingly predictable—she shuttled between home and the hotel. Although her working hours were not fixed, she would never leave the hotel before 6 pm, which was when most of the hotel's administrative staff clocked out, nor would she stay later than 8 pm because Aster needed to go to bed.
However, she had left the hotel at a little past 3 pm that day, which caught Kevan's attention. Since Kevan couldn't send anyone to inquire at the kindergarten, he had Dylan wait downstairs at Larissa's apartment in hopes that he would be able to get updates.
"What happened to Aster?" Kevan was anxious.
"It's nothing serious," Dylan said before elaborating. "Bethany bit him."
