Sweet Subterfuge novel by Trina Duo novel Chapter 474

Larissa missed Aster, so she took out her phone to see if there were any messages from her assistant. Gary thought she was busy with work and was very considerate about it. "You may leave earlier if you have business to attend to," he said.

"It's my son …" Larissa smiled apologetically. "He's waiting for me by himself upstairs and I'm quite worried."

"You have a son?" Gary widened his eyes in surprise. "I thought you were still very young!"

Regardless if he was just being courteous, Larissa took it as a compliment. "I'm already over thirty," she said.

"Over thirty?" Gary zoned out for a brief moment and his expression suddenly became sorrowful. "My daughter … should be around your age! But I don't know if she could be as successful as you are." His words gave a lot of details away.

Larissa was curious, but she was tactful enough not to pry. "She must be more successful than I am," she said.

Gary smiled and dropped the topic. "Go ahead. Don't keep your kid waiting." Larissa thanked him, picked up her handbag, and stood up. When she got back to her office, it was empty. She retraced her steps and found her assistant busy at work at her desk, but Aster was nowhere to be seen. Seeing how the assistant was so calm, it didn't look like something had happened.

Larissa wasn't too worried. She walked over and rapped against his desk, asking, "Where's Aster?" The assistant immediately looked up at the sound of her voice. "Ms. Seymour!" He let go of his mouse and said, "A man by the name of Rogers took Aster away. Mr. Rogers said he was your friend and Aster said that he had asked Mr. Rogers to come here, so I didn't stop them."

"Why didn't you call me?" Larissa frowned, her tone chastising.

"You asked me not to contact you unless it's about something important …" The assistant's voice trailed off as he felt guilty under her questioning. Larissa was so angry that she was at a loss for words. "Next time, if it's anything to do with Aster, tell me right away regardless if it's a serious matter or not. Understood?" said Larissa.
