Chapter 779
“Thank you,” Larissa said.
Hearing this. Kevan frowned.
Aster did not understand what exactly was happening between them. When he saw that Kevan did not say anything, he put his hands on his hips and scolded the man. “Daddy! You must tell Mommy “You’re welcome!”
Kevan stared at Larissa dully before he finally said. “You’re welcome.”
Aster was happy, but Larissa felt a chill run down her spine. She finished the milk, abandoned the glass, and escaped to her bedroom.
“I’m going to bed! You two go to bed too!”
Aster watched her go and sighed. “Mommy is so old now, why is she still so naughty?”
Kevan patted Aster’s head as his expression softened. “It’s okay if Mommy isn’t good. We just need to protect her.”
Larissa was able to fall asleep because the milk helped. Still, she was so cold that she woke up at midnight.
The thick blanket was still covering her. It had not been kicked off by her while she was asleep like she thought.
Larissa curled up, hugging herself m. She tried to get warm like this. Still the bone–chilling cold came in waves, and she kept shivering.
She started to suspect that the thermostat in the house was broken. After putting on a thick cotton shirt, Larissa picked up her phone and prepared to go check the thermostat. When she passed by the study, she was surprised to see light under the door.
The person in the study heard her too. The sounds of light footsteps could be heard. A lew seconds later, the study door opened.
Kevan was still wearing his sweatshirt, and his expression was stemer than before. Looking past his shoulder, Larissa saw that his laptop was open and turned on. He has to be staying up late to work.
“Why aren’t you sleeping?” Kevan asked her.
Larissa wrapped the cotton shirt tighter around herself. “The thermostat seems to be broken. I was going to go take a look.” When she spoke, her teeth were chattering.
Kevan looked a little confused. “Is the thermostat broken?”
Larissa was surprised. “Aren’t you cold?”
Kevan’s eyes narrowed as he asked, “You’re cold?”
Larissa nodded. “It was so cold that I woke up.”
Kevany expression grew more and more serious. He reached out to feel her forehead. A moment later, he concluded, “The thermostat is not broker. You’re having a fever.”
