Wendy had gotten the stew base from a friend in Caldor. One was spicy and the other was tomato-flavored.
They were both her favorites.
Thus, the person who enjoyed the meal the most was Wendy herself, along with Aster who was clueless.
As for the others, Kevan was fuming as he didn't get to sit next to Larissa. He had a sour expression on his face throughout dinner.
Lewis was still upset with Larissa meddling in his relationships.
He looked displeased and did not speak an extra word. Still, he indulged in as much seafood as he wanted.
Marilyn remained quiet, probably due to her unfamiliarity with everyone or Lewis' attitude.
Larissa was stuck between Lewis and Marilyn.
She tried to engage in conversations with both of them, switching between one and the other.
Before the meal was over, she was exhausted and regretted her choice in trying to set Lewis up.
Finally, the meal was over. The food that Kevan prepared was devoured.
Even the tomato stew was half gone, though Wendy had to take most of the credit for that.
She sat back in her chair and patted her rounded belly, exclaiming, "Amazing! I wish that every day could be like this!"
"Sure, as long as you're willing to foot the bill. We can eat like kings every day!" Larissa smirked.
Wendy glared at her and snorted. "Fine! I know that's because you favor Mr. Rogers over me! Geez, even Mr. Rogers himself hasn't complained! I never thought you would choose your lover over an old friend like me! I misjudged you!"
"Speaking of that, your lover should have landed by now, right? Aren't you going to give him a call and check up on him?" Larissa looked at her watch. Wendy was reminded of her oversight.
She jumped up from the chair, but when she caught sight of Larissa's pointed look, she sat back down.
"What's there to ask about? He's a grown man, he can't get lost!" Wendy suppressed her concern and put on an indifferent air. "I'm telling you, Larissa. I'm not as shallow as you. At this moment, nothing is more important than my idol, Mr. Rogers!"
Wendy's tone and actions made Larissa feel an urge to beat her up.
Still, she seemed oblivious and continued paying compliments to Kevan. "Mr. Rogers, you worked so hard to prepare dinner tonight! Let me do the dishes! Larissa will handle the trash. You just sit back and relax. After that, Larissa will give you a massage! She'll bring you some snacks too."
