Chapter 927
Kevan noticed Dylan’s hesitation and decided to take matters into his own hands.
He lifted Aster and placed him firmly in Dylan’s lap.
“Lock the doors and keep him safe,” he instructed with determination before jumping out of the car without further ado.
“Hey-* Dylan tried to intervene but it was too late.
He watched as Kevan strode purposefully toward the commotion,
“Damn it! Dylan muttered in frustration,
Following Kevan’s instructions, he locked the car doors but remained uneasy.
“Uncle Dylan, where did Daddy go?” Aster asked with a worried expression.
Dylan shifted his gaze away from Kevan, mustering a forced smile.
“Well… he is not feeling well and needs to use the neighbor’s restroom.”
Hr concocted a poor excuse.
Aster responded with a simple “On” and lowered his head, obediently nestling in Dylan’s arms.
It was unclear whether he believed the excuse or not.
The sound of the knife striking the gate abruptly stopped.
“You’ve finally decided to show your face! You freeloading ingrate! Give me back my Edmund!”
Dylan trembled upon hearing the shout.
His anxious gaze darted toward the source of the commotion behind him.
But he couldn’t make out any details.
He covered Aster’s ears with both hands, assuring him. “It’ll be okay soon.”
However, this “soon” seemed to last much longer.
It continued until the shrill sound of police sirens drew closer.
Dylan grew increasingly restless.
He wanted to step out and investigate. But he restrained himself, he had his own mission to fulfill
After more than ten minutes. Kevan’s silhouette reappeared in the rearview mirror.
Dylan quickly lowered the car window and asked, “What’s the situation?”
Kevan responded calmly, “Everything’s fine.”
The walling sirens gradually faded into the distance.
Dylan maneuvered the car back to Kevan’s parents‘ house.
Maria was nowhere to be seenc presumably, the police had taken her away.
Kevan rang the doorbell A cautious voice from inside inquired, “Who is it?”
“It’s me, Kevan.”
The massive iron gale slowly opened on its own.
Through the car window, Kevan instructed Dylan, “Go park the car, I head in first.”
“What about Aster?”

As expected, there was a lavishly dressed but disheveled woman standing at the courtyard gale.
She was holding a gleaming kitchen knife.
It could be none other than Maria
“Open the gale!” Maria pounded on the heavy iron gate with her knile.
Her voice was strained as she shouted, “Give me back my Edmund!”
Aster, unfamiliar with such a situation, cowered in Kevan’s arms.
“Daddy, who is she?” he asked in a hushed tone.
Kevan whispered, “She’s someone who isn’t well.”
He gently shielded Aster’s eyes with his hand and offered comfort, “You don’t need to be scared, buddy. I’m here.”
Dylan retrieved his phone and asked Kevan. “Should we call the police?”
Kevan nodded in agreement.
The three of them remained seated in the car.
They Estened to Maria’s relentless stream of curses while patiently waiting for the police to arrive.
