Meanwhile, in the CEO's office of ZR Company, Charles sat in his chair, facing the window. His gaze was far off as he tightly gripped his phone.
It had been a while since he sent the message but he still hadn't received a reply. He knew that Fiona and Spencer were probably together in his workplace and that Celine was also with them. But for some reason, he chose to send the message to Fiona, hoping this would upset Spencer more or less.
'This is bad. I've never felt this before but I don't hate it,' he thought to himself.
Suddenly, his phone started ringing.
Startled, he quickly glanced at his phone, an expectant look on his face. When he saw who was calling him, he couldn't help but feel a little disappointed and confused.
Why was Celine calling him?
"Hello?" Charles answered, his voice emotionless.
"How about I send Fiona to you as a gift?" she offered.
Charles frowned and then smiled ironically. "Do you think I'm that desperate? Do you think I want a married woman?"
"I thought you might be interested in her," she answered. "Then I guess I can just hand over Fiona to another man."
"Wow, Celine, you've got a lot of nerve!" Charles sounded disgusted. "Why would you do that to Fiona? Does Spencer even know about this? Trust me. He won't allow you to do that even if their marriage is just arranged!"
"Arranged? Ha-ha..." On the other end of the line, Celine put on a pitiful smile as she spoke. "If their marriage is just arranged, why would I need to come up with a plan to break them up?"
Charles froze. He shouldn't be surprised. He should have seen this coming especially after he saw Spencer kiss Fiona at the hospital that night. Spencer wasn't stupid. Of course, he would choose Fiona over Celine. But he didn't expect this day to come so soon!
"What did he say?" Charles asked.
"He said that he doesn't love me," she answered in a helpless voice. "He said that he wants to live a long and happy life with Fiona."
Charles turned and sat back in his chair. He picked up the file on his desk and threw it out. Seething, he let out a malicious laugh. "Who do you think you are, Celine? Do you think you are good enough for Spencer to wait six years for you without changing his mind? Need I mention that you weren't loyal to him in any way when you were in another country?"
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line. After a long while, Celine broke the silence. In a timid voice, she asked, "Charles, do you still want me?"
"If you want to get laid, you can come to me. But I'm afraid you're not qualified to be my girlfriend," Charles said in a mocking tone.
Celine's mouth twitched in embarrassment, and she said dismissively, "Anyway, since you're not interested in Fiona, I have nothing else to say to you. I'm hanging up now."
"Wait!" Charles suddenly stopped her.
"What's wrong?"
"You said you would send Fiona to me." Charles emphasized the word "send" as he spoke, a faint smile on his face. "I wonder how you are going to send her to me. Do you have any ideas?"
"I'll figure it out!" Celine said firmly. "So are you interested or not?"
"Yes, I'm a little interested." Charles drummed his fingers on the desk. "I just realized that your proposal isn't too bad after all."
"Then let's wait and see. I'll hand Fiona over to you on a silver platter. You'd better ruin her reputation. I want you to destroy her!" Celine snorted.
