Sahil's POV
I opened the envelope and was shocked to see the papers which I had sent to Manyata Singh Rathore.
My Divorce papers...
They were signed by Manyata Singh Rathore, with an additional clause that she didn't want anything from me in return.
What the hell?? What was going on??
My mind had gone totally numb.
She was Manyata Singh Rathore, My wife ????
No !!!! How could that be???
Shit !!!!
" What was all that Sagar?? " I asked.
" You are asking me?? How could you Sahil?? "
" How could I ?? Do you even know what happened?? " I retorted
" How would I know if you don't tell me Sahil?? You didn't even bother to tell me that you got married?? "
" I didn't get married, I was sacrificed."
" Why didn't you tell me ???... I would have persuaded dad not to do that. "
" You were already tensed, Sagar... I could not do that to you. Dad was determined to get one of his sons to get married to her. He asked you to come that day. But I went there in your place, dad asked me about you and I told him about you. " I said. And looked at him. He was not convinced.
" Sagar, her dad was not well and he wanted to get his daughter married, our dad was getting so emotional at that time that he was getting unreasonable. He said that he has already promised his friend, that his son would marry his daughter. Dad asked me to decide, who would get married to her. I was so shocked that I went away and switched off my phone for two days. You could not marry her and I would not marry anyone. "
" Oh, God !! Sahil, you could have told me.... "
" What would you have done?? Dad was hell-bent he even said that he would disown us if we don't honour his wish. He was getting very emotional that his friend was dying and was tensed about the future of his daughter. So he promised that Sagar would marry her. But when I told him that you were in love with Damini for more than a decade and would rather die than marry anyone else, he dropped the bomb on me. He said then I would have to marry her or he would never talk to any of us and will disown us. "
" You idiot, because she thought that I was Sahil Malhotra. She started shouting at me and when she came to know that I was your twin, she was so embarrassed. How could you do that to her? If you wanted to get divorced, you should have gone and talked to her. How could you behave like a coward? She seemed to be such a sweet and nice girl to me and mind it, she didn't want anything from you. She was just infuriated by the way you asked for a divorce. She was your wife, our family, the daughter of dad's friend. Do you expect me to send her back like that? So I persuaded her to stay back. "
" But why didn't you tell me when I came back? "
" Because I felt that she was a very good girl, perfect for you. She was your wife. I wanted you to give a chance to each other. She is a perfect girl, Sahil. She is bold and beautiful and yet she respects and cares for her relationships. She is an independent young woman with substance. She even requested dad to let it be. She said that she respects your decision and tried to persuade dad that even she didn't want to spend her life with you. But dad said that her dad would not be able to take the stress. So she kept quiet. "
" Ok, but does everyone else knows this? "
" I was sitting with Damini when she came and slapped me so she knows, but Swati and mom knows that she is the girl that dad wanted you to get married to. I didn't want to give stress to mom. Apart from them, only Vikram knows, as he saw her on my engagement and asked her why she was here. He is her first cousin. So I had to tell him. " he said and I closed my eyes in shame as I said that about Vikram and even my own twin Sagar.
" What did she say when you persuade her to give me another chance? "
" I said that she was like Swati to me and I wanted her to listen to me and give you a chance as you both are very good human beings. But Sahil just answer me a question? Will you let Swati stay with someone just like you? I felt guilty in saying that to her because of your flirting nature but I know that you are a wonderful man inside. Just try to look from her perspective, you are nothing but a casanova. But see how good she was, she never asked me back that would I suggest the same thing for Swati if she was in the same situation. If I didn't know you, as I know myself, I would not have suggested that to her. "
" What do I do now? "
" The decision is yours... If you want to spend the rest of your life like this, then go and celebrate as she has set you free... And if you want a better life then go and stop her. " he said and I came out of the office.
