Then Jay asked the chef to make some ginger soup for Doris. She was feeling dizzy, so she took a sip of the soup. It was pungent and spicy, but she felt better after drinking it.
"Being a pregnant woman is so hard!" Doris said in low spirits.
"Thank you, honey!" Then Jay asked someone to raise the salary of the maid who proffered the suggestion.
The other maids were keenly looking at the bowl of ginger soup, feeling incredible.
Was making money always this easy?
Doris still wanted to go to work, but Jay disagreed, so she asked for a leave.
As soon as Jay was done tending Doris, he received a call from Charles.
"Jay, go to the bookstore with me if you have nothing else to do," said Charles and burst out in laughter.
All of their calls in the past were business-related. The only thing they ever discussed apart from business was the date and time of their next appointment at the... Bar! After all, even they needed some relaxation time.
However, for the first time, they were discussing going to a bookstore.
When the two grown men finally arrived at the book store, they sneakily went to different sections of the same area. Charles looked for books on parenting, while Jay looked for books on prenatal education.
In this way, the two men stayed in the bookstore until noon. Then they paid for the books they had chosen and left the bookstore.
After finding a good hotel nearby, they decided to have lunch.
As soon as the two entered, the receptionist opened her mouth wide in surprise, as if she didn't believe her eyes. "Mr. Fu, Mr. Fang. Is it really you?"
No wonder she would be surprised. After all, in the past, both Charles and Jay would never eat in such a small hotel.
So, that made today such a rare occasion!
"Yes. Find a room for us. We'll have lunch here. And remember, keep quiet!"
"Okay, the best room here is on the third floor." The receptionist was too excited and immediately pointed them to the best room.
"We are okay with an ordinary room. We don't wanna make a spectacle," said Jay indifferently.
"All right. How about room No. 1? It's elegant and quiet," said the receptionist, almost unable to control her excitement.
A waiter followed Charles and Jay into the room and placed the menu in front of them.
Both of them ordered their favorite dishes but only in minimal quantity.
Charles and Jay had always been like that. Whenever they dined out, they made sure never to waste a single grain of rice and always paid their bills separately.
When they were waiting for the food, the two of them took out their own books to read. Jay looked at Charles' book and couldn't help but smile. He changed his position and sat beside Charles. Pushing his book over Charles' book, he said, "Charles, look, children are like this when they are in their mother's belly. They are so cute!" "Yes, they are cute. So, you should be kind to pregnant women," Charles said with a smile.
"You are right. Alas, didn't you plan on marrying Nancy?" asked Jay.
Charles sighed in an almost inaudible way. "I've been thinking about it all the time, but Nancy... I'll wait for her!"
"You are a man! Be more active!"
"Well, had I not taken initiative, I wouldn't be living with her by now!" As soon as Charles finished his words, his phone rang.
"Hey, who is this? I don't seem to know her." Looking at the strange name on the phone screen, Jay asked, "Are you flirting with a nurse? If Nancy finds out, she will kick you out."
