Yehriaʼs expression visibly hardened when she heard those words.
She threw away her cup in a fit of temper. Then, Yehria lifted the bottle and downed the liquor in a gulp.
James frowned slightly as he observed the change in Yehriaʼs mood.
A short while later, Yehria flung the empty bottle aside and got up. “To hell with the Alcide beings! Who gave them the right to act all superior and trample over us living beings? Just because they were born privileged, they think they could manipulate all living beings’ destiny?” Yehria yelled furiously.
James snickered, “Donʼt you feel a little embarrassed saying that?”
“What do you mean?” Yehria asked frigidly.
“You said the Alcide beings acted superior and trampled over us.” James cast her a scornful glance. “Didnʼt you, Tai Chi, do similar things to the living beings too?”
“I… How could you…” Yehria was at a loss for what to say.
“I get it now.” James said flatly, “The Alcide beings arenʼt the ones who are oppressing the living beings.
“Instead, it is their descendants and people like you, pretentious living beings who have gained power, that are doing it.
“All of you are the same. You shamelessly take whatever you want from living beings to satisfy your own greed. You made zero contributions in return.
“Yet, you act as though you are a victim of oppression and blame it all on the Alcide beings.
“Everything you did to my wife, you did it out of your greed and inferiority. You were afraid that my wife would replace you as Tai Chi. Isnʼt that right?”
Yehria was positively fuming over what she had just heard. As she could not come up with an effective retort, she called out indignantly, “Enough with the small talk, James! How about we make a deal?”
“No.” James refused point-blank.
“You…” Yehria shouted impatiently, “Why are you rejecting it when I havenʼt even explained…”
“I just feel like it.” James straightened his back a little. “It’s an insult to my character and soul if I strike a deal with a trickster like you.”
“You foolish man!” Yehria snapped, “Are you really going to stay in the Xyloria Kronosia Realm and be reduced to the evil Chaos Aura? You will cease to exist permanently!”
“You won’t be able to pressure me into doing it this way.”
James took a gulp of the Chaos Absinthe and grinned. “After all, I have more leverage than you do. The person who feels more pressed is you.”
“Ha!” Yehria scoffed. “How pathetic! You are the one who is about to die, whereas I am standing out here in a safe place.”
“Between us, you are the one who has more to lose.” James continued calmly, “I may be trapped in the Xyloria Kronosia Realm, where I will be fated with a gruesome death. However, Iʼll be taking half of your Solm Primordial Spirit with me.
“If I am going to suffer just as you’ve described earlier, your powers will also decrease drastically when your Primordial Spirit sustains that level of damage.
“You’ll probably drop below the Xaeclon Rank by then. Helping someone to become the Supreme Path? You might not even be able to keep your position as Tai Chi at that point.”
Yehria flinched and staggered a few steps backward.
James pointed out her weakness precisely this time. He had the upper hand in this situation.
