Sylvia asked, "Caspian, shall I head over there with a few people …"
"That won't be necessary. We don't need to resort to violence. Just give the governor of Dhord City a call," Caspian said. "Government officials who fail to uphold their duty should all be removed from their positions!"
"Understood, Caspian!" Sylvia responded.
The governor of Dhord City was an important position, and he held more power than all the other governors in the country.
After all, Dhord City was the heart of Diatoran's commerce.
Caspian didn't want to abuse his special privileges because he knew that those with ill intent would badmouth him if he did.
…
Over at the licensing department, Chadwick was watching a movie on his phone. Office hours were ending in less than half an hour, and he still had a stack of unsigned documents in front of him.
It was basically impossible to ever see him actually doing his job. Instead, he idled his days away.
Chadwick was getting ready to get off work early when someone barged into his office.
Jumping in fright, he nearly fell out of his chair.
Glaring daggers at the two people who just came in, Chadwick roared, "Who the fuck are you two? You bastards! Don't you know how to knock?"
Caspian studied Chadwick and found the latter to be a round-bellied man with a seemingly haughty attitude.
He deduced that Chadwick must've caused a lot of grief to ordinary citizens with his wicked ways, and he was determined to teach Chadwick a lesson he wouldn't forget.
Without saying anything, Caspian walked over to the desk and took a seat.
"You're Chadwick Sheehan?" Caspian asked as he eyed Chadwick.
"I am, and who the fuck are you? Get the hell out!" Chadwick shouted.
He was outraged. Everyone had always treated him with respect. Who was this guy who showed him no respect at all?
"Is this how you always act? It's such a disgrace that you're working in the Diatoran government!" Caspian rebuked scornfully.
"You!" Chadwick snarled. He was hopping mad. How dared this guy insult him?
"I'm not going to waste my time on you. This is Southlake Corporation's application to set up a branch office here. Sign it at once."
Caspian tossed the document onto the desk in front of Chadwick.
He didn't want to waste his breath on a guy like Chadwick.
"Southlake Corporation?" Chadwick repeated. That name infuriated him further.
Was this punk working for Southlake Corporation? How could this bastard be so disrespectful when he was the one asking for a favor?
"I've made myself clear already. I won't be approving Southlake Corporation's application. It's your fault for offending Mr. Gasse. I'm not signing this!" Chadwick declared coldly.
Caspian sneered.
Chadwick was indeed an ignorant buffoon, but it turned out that he had Zayn to back him up.
Caspian had hit Zayn in public in Southlake City back then. Naturally, a scion like Zayn wouldn't let things slide just like that.
However, Caspian didn't expect Zayn to target him the moment he stepped foot into Dhord City.
Zayn wasn't a complete idiot after all. He was smart enough to use his connections with the licensing department.
Nonetheless, in Caspian's eyes, Zayn was being utterly foolish.
No one who ever crossed Caspian got away with it unscathed.
Chadwick probably didn't know just how much danger he was in right now.
"Hahaha! Are you scared now? Mr. Gasse isn't someone you can afford to offend!" Chadwick gloated.
But as soon as he finished speaking, Caspian slapped him in the face.
"How dare you hit me?"
Clutching his throbbing cheek, Chadwick stared at Caspian in shock. He couldn't believe how bold Caspian was.
He was the director of the licensing department! Yet Caspian dared to treat him this way? Was Caspian trying to destroy all chances of ever making it in Enies?
