Many soldiers were already standing guard around Jade Dragon Grand Hotel. Right after bullets were fired, the soldiers knew that someone was attempting to assassinate Balthazar, so they immediately joined the fray.
Macy and her Phoenix Vanguard were shocked to see the flashes of gunfire in the skyscraper not far away.
"Phoenix Vanguard! Come with me! We're killing these secret agents!" Macy ordered. She led the Phoenix Vanguard and charged toward the building.
The soldiers at Jade Dragon Grand Hotel fired aggressively. It was basically impossible for those snipers to leave, so they could only hide for now and think of ways to strike.
Macy and the Phoenix Vanguard dashed toward the building the fastest they could.
Laina knew that she was in danger when on the topmost floor. There was nothing that could shield her from attacks, and there was a high possibility she would be shot by snipers. Thus, she crouched down so that her position would not be exposed.
Suddenly, a bullet whooshed past the top of Laina's head. Her heartbeat accelerated from the shock. She would have lost her life if she had been a bit slower!
After fighting on the battlefield for so many years, she had become very observant and developed very sharp senses. She knew that those snipers would surely kill her, and that was why she had hidden herself.
She knew that she could not stay here for too long as the snipers would not stop there and would continue firing at her.
She bent down and took a turn into a corner where the bullets would fail to hit her before taking her phone out and calling Caspian. Someone was trying to assassinate Balthazar—this had to be reported to Caspian as soon as possible.
Caspian was woken up from his sleep by the chime of his phone. He took the call immediately when he saw that it was Laina who called. "What happened, Laina?"
"Lord Caspian, someone is attempting to assassinate the King!" Laina reported.
Caspian had been bleary from sleep, but he was wide awake immediately after hearing that.
"How's the King? What's the current situation like?" Caspian asked.
"There are many snipers stationed on tall buildings near the hotel. They're firing at the King's room. His current status is unconfirmed," Laina answered truthfully. She had no idea about the situation inside the hotel.
Caspian looked serious upon hearing that. If Balthazar was the target of snipers, it was very possible that he might not survive this!
"I ordered you time after time to ensure that the King is safe. Why would this still happen? If something happens to the King, you all will be punished following the military law!" Caspian was furious.
"I apologize for my carelessness," Laina said.
"Okay, cut the crap. The King's status is unconfirmed as of yet. You'll continue working on countering the enemy's attacks while I'll go over there immediately and see what's going on!" Caspian ended the call.
Someone attempted to assassinate Balthazar in his territory. If something were to happen, he would not be able to take on the responsibility.
He ran out of the bedroom as quickly as he could, startling both Willow and Zoey.
"Why are you running out so fast, Caspian?" Willow asked.
"I'm heading out to Jade Dragon Grand Hotel," Caspian shouted.
"Huh? Why are you going there in the middle of the night?" Willow asked.
"I have an emergency to deal with." Caspian was not in the mood to go into detail. He had to rush over there as soon as possible and make sure Balthazar was safe.
Willow and Zoey were surprised to see Caspian so ruffled. He was always calm and collected even when met with extreme danger, but he was obviously anxious today.
It was because this concerned Balthazar's safety. Caspian dared not be careless.
"Armored Battalion! You guys are heading to Jade Dragon Grand Hotel with me now to guard the King!" Caspian shouted.
