Chapter 358: Our new beginning...

Lyla

The celebration continued until midnight, and from the way the wine and the food kept pouring out, I wasn’t sure the people who came to celebrate with us were ready to retire.

I was feeling tired and must have dozed off several times in Ramsey’s hand. Ramsey just sat next to me, refusing to touch a drop of alcohol save for the glass of wine we shared as a toast during the reception.

As the clock struck midnight, pack members gathered around us, after fixing a new crown of roses on our head and began to sing and dance loudly, urging us to consummate our night as newlyweds.

They escorted us into the pack house, cheering Ramsey on and telling him to make sure I had a great time. My heart fluttered with nervous excitement as we climbed the stairs together, leaving the crowd at the foot of the stairs cheering us on.

I felt giddy, like a new bride, and Ramsey had a quiet smile on his face, the kind that meant, ’I will go all out tonight.’

My body trembled with the memory of him slipping the binding ribbon around my wrist and slipping on the signet that showed the mark of a Luna. I had felt his need for me through our bond; it was clear.

Instead of going to his room, which I expected, we stopped before a wide double door carved with the crest of the White Moon Pack symbol – a Lycan entwined with a crescent moon.

He pushed the doors open, and I gasped.

The room was magnificent, like something out of a fairy-tale dream. It was thrice the size of any bedroom I’d seen in the pack house, with high ceilings and French windows that overlooked a small forest. Colored candles flickered from dozens of golden holders placed throughout the room, casting dancing shadows on the pale blue walls.

The fireplace – something which I’ve never seen since I arrived here, burned low, casting a golden glow across the polished floor and fur rugs that were so soft.

Rose petals were scattered across the floor, creating a romantic path from the entrance to the massive Double king-size four-poster bed. It was large enough to hold ten people.

The bed itself was draped in thick velvet curtains and covered in more rose petals. Garlands of white roses and baby’s breath hung from the bedposts, filling the air with their sweet fragrance. The silk sheets shimmered like fresh cream, luring us to use them.

On the tables in the room and by the window were fresh flowers in a glass vase. White lilies, sprigs of lavender, and peonies created a peaceful atmosphere in the room.

Someone had already spent hours preparing this room for us.

"It’s beautiful," I whispered, stepping into the room.

Ramsey closed the door behind us and let go of my hand, only to pull me into his arms. For a moment, we held each other in the candlelit silence.

"I feel like a truly newly married couple," I said softly, letting out a shaky breath. "This feels... surreal. Like in one of those human stories."

Ramsey chuckled. "I feel the same way." He stepped back just enough to look at me. "I’m actually nervous."

I blinked. "You? Nervous about being in the same room with me?"

He smiled. "This is our first night together as husband and wife, and I’m just here wondering if I would meet your many needs. I want it to be perfect, you know." freeweɓnovel-cøm

We laughed as the tension between us eased slightly.

"Well, this is not our first time..." I chirped.

"It is our first time as real couples, wife."

I rolled my eyes and reached down to tug at the tight fabric of my ceremonial gown. "I need to get out of this gown. It’s beautiful, but I can barely move."

"I’ll help you," Ramsey offered gently. "In our tradition, it’s considered bad luck if a man helps the wife out of her gown; the easiest way for him to die is after a few days."

I turned to him, already taking a step backwards. "Then, don’t..."

He laughed, pulling me to him again. "Relax, Ly. It’s an old wives’ tale, and it only affects those who believe in it. Besides, haven’t we managed to break every single one of those traditions?" he winked at me.

"Already starting married life with expensive jokes, Alpha Kincaid. Not funny," I jabbed at his rib, and he doubled over, feigning hurt.

I wobbled to the top-to-bottom size mirror in the room, and Ramsey immediately took his position behind me.

I studied the room from the mirror, still amazed at how big and beautiful it was. I caught Ramsey’s gaze in the mirror.
