"It's okay, Ms. Zhao. So, do you want to go up?" the security guard asked Isla.
Still wearing a smile, Isla nodded to him. After hesitating for a moment, she walked into the building.
The guard was confused about what Isla wanted to do, but he knew it would be inappropriate for him to ask.
Soon, Isla got into the elevator.
When Phoebe saw Isla, she dashed to her and pulled her to a corner. After making sure that no one else was watching, she worriedly said, "Ms. Zhao, what were you doing? Mrs. Lu just asked if you told me anything. I didn't know what to say!"
"I didn't do anything. I was just preparing a surprise for Sheryl. Don't worry. Everything's fine," Isla said, patting Phoebe's shoulder to console her.
Upon seeing Isla being so composed, Phoebe decided to just trust her and to stop worrying.
After this, Isla went to Sheryl's office. Standing in front of the door, Isla took a deep breath to calm herself, before pushing it open.
Sheryl knew Isla was going to come back. Isla had left in such a hurry that Sheryl knew she'd come back right away. When she heard the door open, she already knew that it would be Isla.
"Why are you back so soon? What happened?" Sheryl asked. She was reading something and didn't even raise her head as she spoke.
Walking over to Sheryl, Isla put what she'd been holding on Sheryl's desk.
"Here you are!" Isla beamed at Sheryl.
As Sheryl put down the pen in her hand, she looked at what Isla had just placed on her desk. It was a plane ticket and an invitation.
Frowning, she wondered to herself, 'What's this?'
"Is this for me?" she asked.
Isla casually sat across from her and shrugged. "It's from a client. He asked me to go. Whether or not we close the deals depends on this party."
"Then what does it have to do with me?"
Sheryl was puzzled. 'Isn't she the one who normally handles these things? What's she trying to say? Is she asking me to do it?'
"I'm on my period. Are you seriously still going to make me go to this thing?" Isla smiled innocently at Sheryl.
"Isla, are you kidding me?" Sheryl asked playfully.
While she understood what Isla meant, she still found it strange.
Putting a hand over her stomach, Isla dramatically said, "I have cramps. It hurts so much. How can I get on a plane in this state?"
Her eyes were pleading.
"Alright, alright. I'll go."
'It's fine. I don't have anything to do tomorrow. I can attend the party, and I could use this trip to relax, ' Sheryl thought to herself.
"Really?" Isla exclaimed in disbelief.
