Chapter 18

Thalia’s Pov

I stared at him, perplexed; our agreement never required me to work; if my memory served me correctly, he was supposed to reclaim my company and money while I sat around doing nothing. Or was I asking too much from the stranger in front of me?

Thalia, suicide thoughts began lingering when you walked out of that door. Believe me when I say. that if you just sit here doing nothing, those thoughts will return. You must keep yourself busy int order to avoid such thoughts.” As if he could read my mind, he stated.

It was always perplexing to me how he went from p*rvert to a serious life coach or whatever in

seconds.

“But… It’s been long since I’ve worked in an office, and your industry isn’t the same as what I studied at University.” I protested.

In a serious tone, he said. “Take the files and sit down.” To be honest, I missed the Brandon who was always constantly staring at my breast or comparing penises.

With shaky legs. I picked up the paperwork and sat down. Brandon’s company was an empire, very huge in comparison to my father’s business.

“Thalia. I’ll be with you the whole time with an earpiece; all I need is for your trust,” he said. As I flipped through the pages, I was perplexed. “But why do I have to go to work? Why can’t I be here. with you? I won’t consider suicide if you’re here with me,” I explained. He smiled, much to my

annoyance.

“Don’t worry, I’ll be right in front of your eyes so you won’t miss me,” he said as I rolled my eyes.

“On a more serious topic, my board of directors will attempt to overthrow me tomorrow,” in a serious tone, he stated. “They’ll vote; I have 51% of the vote, but if I’m not present, they can use the remaining 49% to get a court order declaring that I’m unfit. I would be summoned to defend my fitness and I’ll lose my company,” he clarified the situation.

I bit my lower lip in surprise, “but I thought your company had clauses giving you full ownership?” I asked.

“After I pulled off my attempt to sink the company at the last minute

them a legal case and a vote, he replied.

For a brief period, I was deafeningly silent.

“Yes, Thalia, I have the money to take down Josh, but I need my company,” he explained. “There are things I can do with the company that I can’t do with my money.”

As my anxieties began to rise, I pretended to be glancing at the files. I wasn’t timid or terrified of public speaking, but the divorce trial robbed me of my voice and confidence, as well as any desire to speak. I hadn’t started speaking till after I met him, and I didn’t want to embarrass him. He was putting too much on me when I was just a messy balloon waiting to explode.

As though he was thinking, he closed his eyes. He twisted his neck painfully back and forth before opening his eyes and staring at me.

“What?” I inquired in a sorrowful voice.

“Do you trust me?” He asked.

“I’ve only known you for two days,” I replied.

“Well, I trust you; I left the gate open yesterday because I knew there was a 2% chance you wouldn’t forsake me,” he said, his voice solemn. “Yes, we only met two days ago, but based on your narrative. even if it was embarrassing, I believe I can trust you with my final days, he continued, throwing me

to gulp as I just stared at him, speechless.

It was like our little takedown pact had given him a will to live. He no longer had the sad eyes that I first bumped into.

“Yes, it will take you ten years to trust anyone again, but prove Josh wrong. Yes, you misjudged him, but we all do, and it’s all part of life lessons” he added.

Everything he was saying was right, and he was making sense, so I merely gazed at the floor in humiliation as I attempted to fight back the tears.

“So what if he made a fool out of you!” He said this while pulling out a remote control and activating the button, which turned the entire rear wall into a screen. “I thought you said this was a normal room?” I quickly turned around. I posed the question:

“That’s just my television,” he explained as he demonstrated his company’s cooperative structure and urged me to pay close attention to every aspect. He wasn’t going to let me make a choice; in fact, it appeared as if he had already made one for me.

He went over the agenda for tomorrow’s meeting after the video was finished; I had no idea how he acquired it, but I thought it had something to do with his cameras.

He began teaching me all of the fundamental basics of his company after the videos were over. I was cautious at first, but when he started staring at my breasts, I had no choice but to distract him with my answers. When it came to his empire, he was dead serious, and I could see how he built it.

When it came to business, he was on top of his game, with no smiles and no eyes p*rving around my chest area because he was so intent on molding me.

Thanks to my smart brain, which had been asleep for the past four years, I answered all of the questions properly and correctly. When he hit the button on his remote, the opposing wall transformed into a closet. Female clothing was on the right, and it appeared to be highly expensive, whilst masculine attire was on the left.

I stared at him, unsure if he had a girlfriend or wife whom he hadn’t told me about.

“While you passed out yesterday, I purchased you some clothes,” he stated.

I was taken aback when; lie seemed to have planned out everything or at least had a thoroughly. thought out plan.

He instructed me to put on a suit and pitch for him. I was befuddled as I glanced at him.

He said, “Thalia, you need to practice.” I hesitated a bit but walked to the closet, curious as to how he knew my sizes, but I knew that asking him would just bring out a p*rvert Brandon. I was having a good time with Business Brandon.

I took a cautious walk to the closet; I came from a wealthy family, but I had never known a life of luxury, even when my father was still alive and always forcing me to wear those pricey gowns.

I used to take off my gowns as soon as the events were done, but when I married Josh, my wedding gown, however, was the most expensive dress. As I approached the wardrobe, I sneered at the fact and began looking for professional attire.

I grabbed a white V-neck top and white office pants from the rack. All of the tops featured a showing chest area, which I noted.
