The Beauty and the Brain by Natalie Jones novel Chapter 159

Chapter 159

Marie stood up, dusted herself off, and went to ask the instructor for a small-sized military uniform. Once she put it on, she surprisingly exuded a

valiant and formidable demeanor.

Marie walked onto the shooting range. She was originally slender, but now, standing among a group of strapping men, she seemed somewhat petite.

Marie looked pure and clean, bare-faced, with delicate features. Several men couldn’t help but stare at her.

They poked Darwin twice, “Hey, this really isn’t your girlfriend, huh?”

Darwin shook his head, “That’s not it at all.”

A few men laughed and said, “Can I chase after her? This little girl looks so full of life, doesn’t she? So gentle and delicate, how adorable!”

Darwin replied, “I advise you not to.”

Several people were pushing and joking around, “She’s not your girlfriend, why are you butting in!”

Darwin remained silent.

Was Marie full of life?

Was Marie gentle and weak?

Was Marie cute?

Initially, Marie had outperformed Darwin, who was known as the Racing Prince, on the racing circuit. Later, at the Robert family’s banquet, she performed a shoulder throw and tossed him into the swimming pool.

How could this woman possibly be his girlfriend? The only person who could handle a psycho like Marie in this world would be another psycho, and that’s

Dennis.

Marie hopped over and said, “Darwin, today I’ll treat you to some meat.’

Darwin scoffed, “You? Where would you get meat for me to eat?”

Marie raised her eyebrows, “Just wait!”

At the shooting range, several people were shooting, and the first few people had pretty good scores. This put even more pressure on Darwin.

It was Darwin’s turn. Darwin picked up the gun, aimed at the bullseye, and with a bang, he hit the sixth ring.

Darwin frowned, the performance of the sixth ring was barely acceptable.

The second shot was fired, hitting the seventh ring. Darwin laughed, saying the seventh ring was not bad.

Darwin took a breath, fired the third shot, and hit the sixth ring.

Darwin, annoyed, threw down his gun. In fact, his performance had already improved significantly since he first started, but he was stubborn and wanted

the best results,

The other few people each took a shot, and the one with the best score was the man who had just said he wanted to pursue Marie. His skin was tanned, giving off a rather masculine vibe.

He raised his eyebrows and looked at Marie, “Gorgeous, I’m sure I’m the first one. What do you want to eat? I’ll get it for you.”

Their food was self-served, but those with good grades were allowed to eat first. So, by the time it was Darwin’s turn, naturally, there wasn’t much meat left to eat.

Marie squinted her eyes and smiled, “How about this, if I get first place, you

treat Darwin to dinner?”

The man laughed, and the people around him laughed as well.

In their eyes, Marie was just a little girl, at most a fascinating and charming little girl. She had never experienced any hardships, so even if she wore a military uniform, she couldn’t possibly look like a soldier.

They didn’t have any ill intentions; they just felt that Marie bragged a little too

much.

The man laughed and said, “If you can’t get first place, then be my girlfriend!”

Marie shook her head, “No, I have a boyfriend now.”

“Weren’t you sure you could get first place?” the man teased her.

“That won’t work either,” Marie frowned, stubborn as ever.

Dennis was very important to her, she couldn’t risk losing him.

“Alright, you win. I’ll treat Darwin to meat for a week,” the man agreed

without hesitation.

Marie nodded, walked over, picked up the gun, and fired a shot almost without

any aiming process.

The first shot hit the ninth ring.

Darwin was dumbfounded, and so were the men around him. It must be luck!

That’s what everyone thought.

Another bang resounded, and another shot was fired without much aiming.

The second shot hit the tenth ring.

Darwin was at a loss for words.

Why did he vaguely feel the sensation of being beaten by Marie at the racing

circuit last time?

The next firing sound was heard. The third shot hit the tenth ring!

It seemed like Marie didn’t even need to look at the bullseye or aim. She just casually raised her gun and fired, and the bullet obediently hit the bullseye.

Darwin was rendered speechless.

Who could tell him if there was anything Marie couldn’t do?

After a round, Marie became the undisputed first place winner. Marie winked at the man from earlier and asked, “Are you treating?”

The man nodded woodenly and then nudged Darwin with his elbow, “Hey, where did you find this lady?”

Darwin covered his face and said, “Man! Do you think this is a lady? Whose lady is so fierce?”

The man scratched his head, picked up Darwin, and said, “Let’s go, let’s go eat!”

At the cafeteria, the man led Darwin and Marie to sit together. During the meal, Marie didn’t say much, just kept her head down and ate quietly. Darwin, who finally had a chance to eat some meat, was also busy eating. The table was

very quiet.

In the afternoon, there was a weighted run. Marie stubbornly tied sandbags to herself and ran three miles with these big men without complaining about being tired.

Darwin was completely defeated. This woman was simply a devil. No wonder she was able to win over Dennis, that deity-like man.

Marie was actually tired, even though she usually scheduled a lot of training and exercise for herself. After all, Marie’s body had been that of an ordinary person since childhood, even weak and sickly, having taken various medications. She was far from being as strong as Rose, who had a body as sturdy as iron. So after a day of training, she was somewhat exhausted.

In addition, she had been shot in the shoulder not too long ago, and it hadn’t

fully healed. After a day of physical activity, the wound had closed, but there

was still a faint pain.

But she persisted, because every time she reached this point, when the pain. and exhaustion were at their peak, it was the closest she could get to being Marie and Rose. She twistedly reminisced about those devilish training days, just like many carefree university students inexplicably missed the times. when they had to study all night.

It seemed that the pain experienced didn’t really count as pain.

After a day of training, Darwin had nothing to say and obediently stayed in the army camp, promising Marie that he would train well and find his rhythm.
