Rebel POV.
I ride towards the site where the institute was. I need answers and it’s best to start there. Hopefully, I find something. All I can think about is how much Luna had changed since being in there and the positive and amazing changes she made. I was apprehensive at first that she was manipulating everyone, but she wasn’t. She was responding positively.
She was even helping with the other patients; she told me that when she was finished with her treatment she wanted to go into the medical field and help others like how she used to be. I was so happy for her. Now she is gone. My baby sister is dead. I will find out why and who did this.
Whoever did this to her will pay tenfold for this. Why wait for her to get better? Why not do this when she went in? I can understand why someone would want her dead. She was evil before she went there. But this wasn’t an accident, this was thought out, but why?
I rev the throttle and ride as fast and as hard as I can to get there. When the answer comes to me. My eyes widen at the realisation. Luna knew how deep Alonso and Paddy’s business went. This was to silence her. I break harshly and pull up to the side of the road. I pull my phone out and dial Candy.
“Hey, Candy girl. I need your expertise.” I say to her, and my voice is harsh and unyielding.
“Whatever you need, I’m sorry Rebel for your loss.” I choke back a sob as I hear her voice. I shake it off. I need all these emotions if I am to avenge not only my sister but all those that died in this disaster.
“Find out for me who else was associated with Ricci and Smyth, also if you can try to hack into the visitor logs for the institute and find out who else visited her apart from me and my family.” It’s worth a shot, even if it was only my family that was allowed. That doesn’t mean someone didn’t fake ID to get to her.
“Ok, give me half an hour and I will find out that information. Be careful Rebel and I would say don’t do anything stupid, but I know you. Speak soon. The Mother’s Revenge is all here for you. We love you, just give the word and we will mobilise.” She tells me before she hangs up. I sigh, my hands are shaking with rage. I ride again and head to the institute.
After ten minutes, I pull up at the barricade. The media are everywhere, police, fire, ambulance. The FBI are present as well, and RICO. Oh, just great. Why are they here? RICO shouldn’t be involved, unless they suspect what this is more than a simple accident.
One of the agents looks towards me and walks closer to me. I stay calm. They can’t do shit to me. Every family is under the protection of the DeAngelis family.
“Miss Moretti-Jackson, I’m agent Maisie Owens. Could you dismount and follow me, please?” She says, and I smile at her. I dismount my bike and follow behind her past the barricade and into the temporary command station. AKA a mobile unit. I walk up the steps and she is standing there with other agents. They all look at me in awe and recognition.
I have been doing their job for years, dealing with the most heinous of people. Agent Owens is no different. She is pretty, with her dark hair in a tight bun at the base of her head, her grey eyes watching me. She has a beauty mark above her full lips. I have seen her before, but I can’t think from where.
“Firstly, I want to offer my condolences for the death of your sister. We know she was here and making progress. Secondly, I want you to know that this is my investigation, so if you know of any reason why this institute was destroyed and nearly all the patients and staff killed, I want to know.” I look at her up and down as she places her hands on her hips, making it clear so I can see her badge and gun. I scoff at her. Intimidation doesn’t work on me.
