Maverick POV.
My heart has been in my throat the entire time. The thought of losing my daughter does something to any parent. I was ready to run into the building and kill every last one of these sick fucks with my bare hands. But that would have jeopardised the kids. Harmony was rational and took charge.
She is amazing; she didn’t show fear and acted quickly. She got them out and to safety without being caught. I went with Melody as she was checked out and Harmony stayed with baby Elijah. Michelle went with James and when he was clear, she went to be with Johnny and Hound.
I replay everything that has happened today and I’m thankful I have Melody because if I hadn’t, then I would back at the shit excuse of a club and be burning it down with them inside. There are lines you don’t cross and they have.
Even when I was a nomad, I still stuck to the club laws. It was instilled in me for so long, I could never imagine hurting a woman or child. But Felicity in my eyes is not a woman. She is a beast and deserves everything she will get from the women of the POD.
The club has a unique way of doing things; the women are the ones who dole out punishment, especially if the perp is a woman. I know women can be vicious, so the men step back unless it gets out of hand.
But when it comes to the club kids, all bets are off. The kids are precious and are not to be harmed, but three of them have been all by the same club. So yeah, the gloves are off.
Rebel told me that Felicity has been asking to speak to me, I have nothing to say to her. I will go and see what she has to say, but I won’t be saving her scrawny ass. Regardless if she is the woman that gave birth to my daughter. She is nothing to me and will never be anything to me.
I watch from the doorway as Melody sleeps soundly in her princess bed. The pink quilt is up to her chin and her hair is free and down. She clutches her teddy bear and I smile at this. She is safe, and she knows she has people around her that would come for her if she was ever in danger. Just like today when me and Harmony went for them.
I leave the doorway and close the door over slightly as I make my way down the stairs and in to the kitchen to get a drink. I move to the sofa in the living room and turn the TV on.
I lean back with my soda and smile as I remember how brave and stubborn Harmony was today. You can tell she is Rebel’s daughter. She will make a great ole lady and mother. She didn’t think about the danger, she just acted. That makes my chest ache, knowing she could have been hurt. I have never had this feeling before.
Sipping my drink when my phone pings with a new message. I reach inside my hoodie and pull it free and see a message from Harmony.
Harmony: Hey, just checking in with you both. Thank you for helping today. I hope this won’t make Melody regress. If y’all need anything I’m here xx.
I smile at this. She is too good for the likes of me.
Me: Hi Harmony, no it should be me thanking you. You saved the kids today and I don’t know how to repay you for that, so I will ask you again to come to dinner with Melody and myself one night this week. I don’t know what I would have done without you today. Melody is currently asleep and me, well, I’m just replaying what went down today. Anyway, I’m blabbering so please come to dinner and thank you again. xx.
