Chapter 147
Allison had thought that a rich man like Lucian might not know how to appreciate the simple dishes, but to her surprise, he had emptied his plate in no time.
Allison, on the other hand, was all grace and elegance when eating and took her sweet time Lucian watched her, suddenly recalling the red woven pendant hanging
in her bedroom.
“Did you make that red pendant in your bedroom?” he asked
“What?” Allison was taken aback. “You’ve been in my room?”
His silence was answer enough.
“You mean the red pendant that was made by my grandmother?” She said, disappointment in her voice.
“Your grandmother?” Lucian pondered. “Did you live in Cloudville when you were a kid?”
Allison remembered this man asking her the same question before. “My grandmother’s house is in Cloudville. I lived there when I was a kid. But then there was an earthquake, so I moved back to Northfield.”
Lucian looked lost. Could this be the same Allison he knew?
The girl from his memones–could it be her?
But how could she have changed so much? Vain, greedy–nothing like the innocent girl she used to be. Or was it him who got it wrong?
Allison didn’t understand why Lucian seemed like a different person today. Severe in the morning, but cold and gentle in the evening.
After finishing his meal, Lucian didn’t leave. Instead, he sat on the couch, flipping through a book, while Allison, worn out from a continuous fever, she dozed off.
Allison’s head naturally slid down, resting on his shoulder.
Lucian looked up.
Sleeping, Allison looked so peaceful, like a deer. He gently brushed her hair away from her face. This face was somewhat similar to Penelope Flanagan’s.
With his hand covering the top half of her face, he had a strange feeling.
It was the first time Lucian felt something different about a woman.
When Allison woke up, she found herself in bed. Lucian was gone; she had no idea when he had left.
She felt her forehead, the fever was gone
She was about to head to the Flanagan’s to help out when Leah called her into the study.
“Allison, the hospital called. Your mother’s condition isn’t very good.”
“What?” Just a week ago, her mother was perfectly healthy.
