Chapter 167
Lucian, I made this lunch especially for you this morning. It’s a porcini mushroom soup that I’ve been simmering all morning. Give it a try?
Penelope lifted the lunchbox, and the fragrant scent of mushroom soup immediately filled the air.
Lucian took a sip and was instantly surprised.
He had always thought that Penelope was a pampered little rich girl. He didn’t expect her to be able to cook, let alone make something tasty.
He downed an entire bowl “Did you make this?”
Penelope blinked. In reality, she didn’t know how to cook. She would get dizzy from the smoke every time she entered the kitchen, But seeing Lucian enjoying it, she wouldn’t disappoint him “Of course,” she said with a smile. “Is it good?”
“It’s perfect.”
Penelope didn’t expect Allison’s cooking skills to be this good. It was as if that evil woman had gotten the upper hand. But she knew in her heart no matter how delicious the food was, Lucian would always believe she made it.
“Lucian, I cut my hand preparing this lunch for you.” As she said this, Penelope lifted her hand, showing a band–aid wrapped around her finger from a cut she got the night before.
Seeing Penelope’s pitiful expression, Lucian furrowed his brows.
“You’ve worked hard but have to go through all this trouble. I can have the house servants deliver food.” Lucian felt a bit guilty for Penelope’s efforts.
“Lucian, I can bring you lunch every day. I’m your fiancée, and I’m carrying your child. I’m willing to do all this for you.
“Thank you, Penelope”
“Lucian, as long as you’re happy, that’s all that matters.”
Penelope started to serve the other dishes from the thermos, including spaghetti bolognese, roast chicken, and a seafood platter.
Lucian tasted a few bites. The chicken was tender, the seafood slightly spicy, but the spaghetti bolognese felt familiar as if he had tasted it before.
His expression changed slightly. “Penelope, did you also make all these dishes?”
“Of course.” Penelope bowed her head, completely engrossed in her joy and oblivious to Lucian’s expression. She looked forward to bringing him lunch every day, eating together, and deepening their relationship.
Lucian frowned. These common dishes tasted too familiar. Perhaps his taste buds were playing tricks on him…
It wasn’t until the afternoon that Allison finally arrived at Mercy Grove Hospital.
“Hello, Adeline. I’m Allison, a friend of Ashley’s.”
Allison knocked on the office door and immediately recognized the woman painting her nails as Adeline. She looked a lot like Ashley.
Normally, doctors and nurses aren’t allowed to paint their nails, but this was a mental health hospital with few patients, so it was okay for Adeline to have light pink nails.
