Lysander gently laid Thalassa on the bed; she must have been truly exhausted, as she fell into a deep slumber immediately. He cradled her to the bed, and she didn't even stir. Bending over, Lysander admired her peaceful face. Her eyes were closed, long lashes resting on her eyelids like two serene butterflies. They were thick and beautiful.
Her face remained as delicate and lovely as ever, with a perfectly sculpted nose that was neither too prominent nor too subtle, and lips a vibrant shade of red. Her complexion was so pale, it was almost heartbreaking.
Lysander's hand brushed against her cool cheek, causing a twinge of pain in his heart at the lack of warmth. Thinking about what Callum had done to her earlier sent Lysander's heart racing with anger, wishing he could get his hands on Callum!
Callum had been taken away by the police, and Lysander knew he would settle both old and new scores; he wouldn't let him off easily!
Worried about waking Thalassa, Lysander gently covered her with a blanket, stood up, and prepared to leave the room. But, as he tried to stand, his legs cramped up due to the sudden movement, and the pain was so intense he couldn't stand up straight.
Lysander's brows furrowed in pain, his hands gripping the edge of the bed for support as he slowly tried to straighten up, trying to ease the discomfort in his legs. The muscles on the outside of his legs felt as if they were being pulled, and the more he tried to stand, the more it hurt. Lysander, head bowed and teeth clenched, endured the pain.
After a few minutes, the pain gradually subsided, and using his arms for support, he slowly stood up. This time, he managed to stand properly and even took a few steps to test his legs. Thankfully, he could still walk.
At the height of the pain, Lysander had feared the worst - that his temporary recovery was over and his legs had become paralyzed again. Fortunately, after the pain passed, he was able to stand up safely. Having experienced disability before, Lysander knew the frustration and pain all too well. Now that he could stand and walk, he certainly didn't want to go back to using a wheelchair.
