The Bride Who Said No: Escaping the Shadows of Yesterday novel Chapter 144

Kieran was stunned by the words.

Beside him, Jarrett couldn't help but say, "Mr. Sutton, could it be... that we've got Ms. Dawson wrong?"

Kieran clenched his fists. Whether it was a misunderstanding or not, how Freya treated him just now had ticked him off. "Go ask Kara what's going on!"

"Yes, Mr. Sutton," replied Jarrett, who quickly led the team upstairs.

Kieran rubbed his temples, looking weary.

Meanwhile, having witnessed the exchange between Freya and Kieran, Luna was dumbfounded. "Reya, I've known you for so long, and I think that was the coolest you've ever been! Before, Kieran treated you like a doormat, and it was infuriating to watch! But now, it seems you've finally seen the light!"

Freya smiled. "Yeah, seen the light."

After all, how could she not have, after everything that had happened?

Just then, Freya's phone rang. Seeing Johanna calling, she almost hung up. But after a moment's thought, Freya decided to answer.

On the line, Johanna's voice oozed sweetness, "Reya! Are you at the Sutton Mansion? Is Mr. Sutton there?"

Freya answered, "I'm at school."

Johanna sounded displeased by her answer. "You're practically the Sutton family's future lady! What are you doing at school? You can be so clueless sometimes!"

That place wasn't just about having the money but was about having the clout. Every event booked at the Majestic Manor Hotel was for industry moguls or highly esteemed social figures.

And Leland, barely out of his teens, expected to celebrate there? That was laughable.

"I'm aware it's a tall order, but now that you're practically the Sutton family's fiancée, it's only right for Leland to bask in your reflected glory! It lets people know the standing of the Dawson family!" Johanna's voice even carried a hint of pride.

Casually admiring her manicure, Freya responded, "Johanna, you must be joking. That place is out of my league."

"No worries! If you can't afford it, Mr. Sutton can! Just sweet-talk Mr. Sutton, and that banquet hall at the Majestic Manor Hotel is ours," Johanna said as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

Freya remembered a similar situation from her past life when Johanna had thrown a birthday bash for Leland at another upscale hotel, leveraging her status as the future lady of the Sutton family.
