The Bride Who Said No: Escaping the Shadows of Yesterday novel Chapter 148

"Yes, Mr. Beckett."

Ronan didn't spare Johanna another glance, opting instead to turn and leave.

Johanna hadn't expected Ronan to ask for payment. She considered chasing after him, but he was already gone.

But she thought, ‘Double the price? So be it! It’s just a banquet hall, after all. How much could it possibly cost?’

At that moment, Cory approached Johanna and said, "Mrs. Dawson, that would be twelve million dollars. How would you like to settle the payment?"

"How much?!" Johanna was stunned upon hearing the figure.

Twelve million dollars? How could it possibly be that expensive?

"Mrs. Dawson, you see. Mr. Beckett offered our largest banquet hall. Renting our largest hall for a three-day, round-the-clock feast, and since you requested double, well..."

Hearing Cory explain, Johanna's face turned sour. Twelve million dollars! That was a lot of money. How could she come up with that kind of cash on the spot?

Cory continued, "Mrs. Dawson, this banquet hall is reserved for the crème de la crème. I must also congratulate you. And wish Mr. Dawson a happy birthday."

Johanna's face twitched with pain. ‘Twelve million for a banquet hall, you can't find another place like this in all of Echo City. Was Ronan doing this on purpose?’
