The Bride Who Said No: Escaping the Shadows of Yesterday novel Chapter 172

"Mr. Sutton, the guy's been locked up in the Sutton family's basement for a day now."

The Sutton family's basement didn’t have any bathroom or lighting. It was like a dark cell with nothing but a ventilation fan.

Most folks would find a few hours in such a place unbearable. A whole day, however, was stretching it.

"Didn't Freya want to take her good-for-nothing brother with her? Well, then, she can come and ask me herself."

Kieran had initially planned to make Freya wait for a few hours, hoping to highlight their gap. But Freya wasn't playing ball.

So be it. But if Freya wanted to take Leland away, she'd have to come and beg him personally. Otherwise, there was no way he was letting Leland go.

In a short while, Jarrett returned to the lounge. Freya was lounging in a chair, idly scrolling through her phone, occasionally sipping coffee, looking utterly relaxed. There wasn't the slightest hint of urgency about her to rescue Leland.

Seeing Freya like this, Jarrett couldn't help but say, "Ms. Dawson, Mr. Sutton would like a word with you."

"Hm? Isn't he in a meeting? I'm not in any rush." Freya calmly set down her coffee, stood up, and said, "I'll head to the restroom first. By the way, where is the restroom in the Sutton Group's building?"

Watching Freya's leisurely demeanor, Jarrett found himself growing anxious instead. Mr. Sutton had wanted to make Freya wait, but there she was, making them wait for her!

"Ms. Dawson, right this way, please." Jarrett led Freya to the restroom.
