The Bride Who Said No: Escaping the Shadows of Yesterday novel Chapter 214

While watching Preston lounging casually beside Freya, Kieran's voice was icy. "So, you're breaking off our engagement because you've snagged Preston?"

"Mr. Sutton, whatever you think, let it be," Freya said indifferently. "After all, Mr. Sutton, you’ve always seen me as a gold-digger, right? Haven't you said it yourself that I'm vain and only out for climbing the social ladder? If so, of course, I'd aim higher. Mr. Tyler is much better than you. At least Mr. Tyler loves me wholeheartedly. He isn't hooking up with other women, and he doesn't have any illegitimate children."

Echo City had been buzzing for a while with news about Eloise and Kieran having a child and the rumors that Kieran pressured her to have an abortion. Kieran had never clarified those rumors. Everyone in their circle had taken for granted that the child was Kieran's.

In her previous life, many had mocked Freya as nothing more than a breeding tool for the Sutton family. Compared to Eloise, the woman Kieran loved, she was a joke.

"Who told you I had an illegitimate child with Ellie? Freya, you..."

Before Kieran could finish, Jarrett quickly stepped in, "Mr. Sutton, Ms. Dawson is just speaking out of frustration. Please don't take it personally."

"Whether you had a child together, your love for Eloise is a fact. Since you love her so much, I'll step aside for you two and ask you, Mr. Sutton, to do the same for me." Freya decided to lay all her cards on the table.

She was exhausted after playing the part of fiancée for so long, maintaining the relationship between their families. She would have canceled the engagement long ago if Kieran hadn’t occasionally used the Dawson Group as leverage against her.

She wouldn't have had any second thoughts. But Kieran was becoming more unreasonable.

Kieran's gaze fell sharply on Freya and Preston as he said coldly, "You want to break off the engagement? Fine, I'll grant you that."

"Mr. Sutton!" Jarrett's face turned pale. There would be hell to pay if Audrey heard about the broken engagement.
